Thanks for recommending this product! I'm ordering one today! For a handheld sharpener, I would highly recommend the Kum 2-hole sharpener, available on Amazon. It sharpens to a longer point, then the other side trims the graphite to a very sharp point.

I use a tissue like Kleenex over my finger for blending. I use a big fluffy makeup brush for eraser crumbs, or a small ostrich feather duster. I love my little Tombow eraser! I use an electric pencil sharpener, mostly because its so fast, and I am impatient! I always start with the eyes, too. Its nice to see them looking at me as i complete the rest of the drawing. I almist feel that we are friends by the time i finish the drawing. You can reduce the graphite shine by using a matte spray fixative. This is a very helpful video! Thank you!

Excellent in-depth analysis of both the Stabilio and Faber Castell pastel pencils. I’ve been using them both for several years and really appreciate your insight into all of the different attributes that go into pastel pencils, from their composition to light fastness to an often overlooked consideration of what types of surfaces they work best on. You’re obviously very knowledgeable and I like that you explained how each product can complement each other. I, too use the Carbothello’s for laying down larger areas and like to use the Pitt’s for detail work, as I do find them a bit harder and able to make finer marks with less effort. I would love to hear more about the pastels, especially regarding Pan Pastels working with these pencils and blending tones. Thanks again, I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

My suggestion to all artists save your money on A2 or A3 size mixed media paper if you plan on making medium sized artworks it saves space and money 💵. For painting abroad a 15 by 15 inch square will also work if you plan on making artworks in multiple mediums in some foreign country.

Well I have been through a great deal of videos. This was very helpful. I usually am a painter/ water color artist. Being color blind has been my wall as the wife will tell me what color next by picking them for me. I've decided to go to graphite sketching to which will help me be free of asking what color. I just ordered a full set of graphite pencils and can not wait to exercise your video. Thank you so much.

Question, Why when teaching for Beginners you did NOT start with a Light circle/oval for the head, and for the body. and divide where the center of beak is sort goes with line of the eye. which usually falls in the center. INSTEAD you started out with a semi tracing of your completed bird? Doing this encourages beginners to FORGET doing circles, but put tracing paper over you completed bird , and go over their TRACING OF YOUR BIRD ONTO THEIR PAPER , having a far better non learning, on their own to do a bird they see that is NOT a photo or drawing..?

@@DragosPepinaArt what is your email so I can send what I made I just finished yesterday
I have the Castle Arts big sketching set (the one I bought, before I switched to artist-grade supplies) and everything looks EXACTLY the same (except there's no cutter in the CA set though it boasts additional supplies such as pastel pencils, a color shaper, etc.)... Makes you wonder... And all the more so since I noticed the exact same thing that you did: in my opinion, the graphite pencils were quite good whereas the charcoal pencils and pastel pencils (not included in the Temu set) tended to be hard and scratchy. I'm convinced these are the same items... at a very different price though! Sigh.
