"So, you're thinking of moving from California to Bellingham, WA" WHO THINKS THAT??? NOBODY! Bellingham is just a bigger version of Blaine, WA, which is a border town. There's nothing in Bellingham! There's just a mall, one Costco, and a bunch of gas stations mostly used by Canadians who want to save a buck by driving 40 minutes south of the Canadian border. Way to pump up a dead, depressing, gloomy village with very little to offer and do in terms of entertainment and culture. Not to mention that it is overcast and rainy 9 months of the year! No comparison to sunny California. Why would anyone want to move to Bellingham? 😂

I lived in Bellingham from the late 70's and left 13 years later. Used to be a quiet place as we used to say, they roll the sidewalks up at 6pm. If you love rain and hate the sight of the sun, then move there. 3 months of decent weather, 9 months of rain and gloom. All of the great cafe's and restaurants are gone. The price of homes are outrageous now, almost the same as many places in California. Don't get me wrong, it's green there and lots of outdoor activities available, but the rain will keep you from enjoying being outside 9 months a year. The population was about 40k when i lived there. You could do worse than Bellingham, you could move to Seattle.

Hey @ricktreas3728! You can likely find a one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham within your budget, though you'll have more options at the higher end and may need to be more selective at the lower end.

Do NOT move to Bellingham if you are not financially secure. Cost of housing here is very high and it is going to go higher. No miracle is going to happen to lower housing costs in general or for you personally. Thoroughly research rent and property costs and be realistic. Also, be prepared for very left-wing politics. If you are a conservative, it is best to keep it quiet.

Living in B'ham for 8 years now, came from Southern California(Orange County, Huntington Beach). The weather is bad, very claustrophobic, like a big grey blanket hanging at 50 ft in the sky for about 5 months of the year. He's right, rain is not much, it's just spread out. Very little access to services, like medical specialists. Also, Mexican food is just terrible here, a real abomination actually. Please, if you have authentic Mexican cooking skills and want to open a legit restaurant, MOVE TO BELLINGHAM!!

@robertmunroe3976 - Have you been able to check out COA Mexican restaurant over in Sunset since they arrived? I haven't been yet, but have great things to say about their Mount Vernon location. Also, if you enjoy Carne Asada, I highly recommend picking it up from the butcher at La Gloria on the Guide and making it on your grill at home. Cheers!

Bellingham is a piece of s*** they make money off the backs of homeless people it made a deal with the town when they get their money from the city and state they get the good perks people at Basecamp they get the s*** stick 3-day-old food clothes with bugs in them and if you're looking for any clothes they're not going to have none they're going to tell you to go to the Hope House cuz we don't have no parents here in Basecamp well tomorrow and go to Hope House and get them and they will sit the f****** there and they will lie in your face with a big smile

Can anyone recommend a safe public place to virtue signal in Bellingham? noun: virtue signalling the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

Virtue signaling is one of the most popular activities in Bellingham, but the majority of virtue signaling is performed in higher-end neighborhoods where the virtue signalers do not deal with any of the issues they are virtue signaling about. Lots of those signs about how they love their "neighbors" of all different races but the neighborhoods with those signs are invariably all white. Black Live Matter signs also abound but there are usually no Black people in the neighborhood. They also love their homeless neighbors but they have no homeless camps anywhere near them. "No person is illegal" but probably they have never even seen an illegal immigrant in their lives. Etc., etc. There are a lot of well-off gay people, so if the sign says they love people of all sexual orientations, it is possible that there might actually be non-hetero people in the neighborhood, but that is the only exception.

600k? I loved living on Whatcom! Dominos Pizza delivery guy greeted me at my door with "I didn't expect someone like you to be living in a place like this". 600k will have your neighbors asking you where they can score drugs if you're of color in Whatcom County....yeah that nasty. Sudden Valley is a pain when it's icy and mostly dark from all the trees. Hate to throw shade as Whatcom County already has so much of it! Avoid this beautiful wretched County and State as a WHOLE.

Especially those who don't "know their place". 11 year old Black children are not safe from physical attacks from racist even if they are in front of the police station. Well, from my own personal experience, I hate Bellingham. 1. The homeless dirtbags are everywhere. They will ask you for money, then scream at you, possible throw things at you, and... may become violent. Thanks for nothing Bellingham police. 2. The college kids are completely out of control. They are destructive, miserable entitled little pricks, and a blight. 3. The old people are shithouse rat crazy. It often appears, they intentionally wait for a vehicle and step out directly in front of you. Apparently life in Bellingham is so awful, suicide is the only way to escape. 4. The fake wannabe environmentalists professors that dress like 50s beatnik, and think everyone wants to hear them bloviating about things they in fact know zero about. 5. The passive aggressive atmosphere is so thick, you can literally feel it as you are driving in on I-5, and the traffic is insane. 6. Traffic. While the gridlock isn't really a problem, the drivers absolutely are. The mix of half retarded, drug fueled college kids in vw with semi truck mufflers, the Canadian invaders, in their high end cars with the super entitled"Me first, I'll cut off anyone, anywhere, at any speed" attitude, makes you wish cars had missles. Then there's the formentioned crazy old people in the fast lane driving 29mph under in their stupid sellout America, foreign cars, who clearly drive only for going to Costco, to get free samples. Bellingham is awful. Everyone in it is awful. If it were hit by a meteor and destroyed, Im fairly certain, it would be a joyfilled holiday and Wa would be glad to be rid of the hellhole.

Barkley square is the model for the new Bellingham and whatcom county the new Issaquah playground for the wealthy on a large scale. others stay out. Tell me I'm wrong here.

The demographic is mostly white. 1% Black and it's the kind of town that will chase them out with passive aggression and hate tactics to make them uncomfortable. Beautiful place...sad people. Good luck with the drugs and racism unless it's your thing.

What is the cost of renting a 1 or 2 bedroom apt. or townhouse or condo? My 30 year old son and his fiancé have been living in Bham for almost 2 years and they love it. They and i are from San Diego county area where it’s so so expensive. I’m 68 and really got spoiled with the weather down here even though I’m from Chicago but moved to CA. When I was 26 years old. What’s your thoughts? Last Thanksgiving I visited my son in Bham and liked it but it was Cold. Thanks

Hi Dominick! Aparments.com shows that 1 bedrooms start around $1,500/month with 2 bedrooms starting around $2,000/month. Summers up this way are pretty tough to beat, but we get a fair amount of gray and rain in the winter months. Not as much as some people think, but definitely more than San Diego! I've run down Pacific Beach in December in shorts and a tank top in December. It's a pretty amazing place. Congrats to your Aztec's on a great NCAA tournament!

You can check that out on line. Many resources are available. Rent is high here and going higher. If you are well off you will be fine but otherwise there are plenty of less expensive places to live. Eastern Washington has a much lower cost of housing.

1:11 imma have to stop you right there. Yeah I get it they're just opinions and so is what I'm about to say as well. But there is ABSOLUTELY no way there is more pros than cons to living in bellingham. You have racist neighbors residing in Ferndale and Lynden. Drug addicts in Everson, Bellingham and Custer. Rent is way too high for anyone to live yet they keep making houses/apartments. "Affordable housing" is $200k, tweakers break into your house and cars more often than you think. People don't know how to use their fucking blinkers, speed signs are just a suggestion as everyone likes to speed or purposely drive under the speed limit. Everyone uses politics as a reason to treat one another like garbage. Violent crimes are rising more and more each day. More and more people keep moving here which drives the rent and taxes up, makes the bad traffic even worse while simultaneously taking up space we dont have. Theyre shoving buildings on any little piece of land they can get. Soon bellingham will be no different than Seattle. A barren wasteland thats ran by incompetent politicions, criminals and drug addicts. Idk at this point its not an opinion as I'm stating nothing but facts. if you're one of the 2 people who watch this channel and thought about moving to bellingham, DONT DO IT. It's not worth the troubles, born and raised here for all 24 years of my life and we have nothing to offer you please move somewhere else.
