There is no way Jansenism is a thing in the church today! Presumption is rampant. Also the hierarchy lack of faith is what's hurting the church.

Priests were obsessed with “sins of the flesh.” God was presented only as a harsh and condemning judge, not as a merciful Savior and Good Shepherd. The Jansenists taught that only a few people were saved, and only the purest of souls, free of all taint of sin, could receive Communion without the fear of committing a sacrilege. New Eucharistic devotions emphasized the separation and distance between God and ourselves. St. Vincent de Paul said: “We no longer see people receiving Communion, not even at Easter, the way they formerly did.” In the early 1900's Pope Pius 10th enraged those with a Jansenistic mind set by encouraging frequent & and even daily communion. And further, he began allowing children to receive holy communion as soon as they reached the age of reason. Before then, you had to be about 14 years old. Jansenists taught that the Eucharist is a reward for virtue, but the Council of Trent back in the 1500's had decreed that Communion is an “antidote by which we are freed from our daily faults and preserved from sin.”

These comments are funny. Jansenism, like a lot of these heresies, at first seems like "well why did the Catholics have a problem with this?" but spending a little time looking into it you'll typically see one major doctrine that the heresy believes in that will completely change the whole nature of Christianity if true. With Jansenism it sounded nice until you get to the part where Jesus is not for everyone and then once again if you follow this thought you would have to go back to the drawing board and completely undo your belief of Christianity. According to the Catholic Church, grace is a free and undeserved gift from God that helps people respond to his call to become children of God, adoptive sons, and partakers of the divine nature and eternal life. In Christian theology, efficacious grace is also known as irresistible grace, effectual grace, or effectual calling. It is the doctrine that God's saving grace is applied to those he has chosen, the elect, and that it overcomes in God's timing. This doctrine is primarily associated with Calvinism. I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly to the person below who commented but the whole "Efficacious Grace" sounds like some type of Freemasonic Christianity or gnosticism where there's a chosen group in the know and then the masses who are given something else.
