Sue Simmons was one of my favourite Black American newscaster. Prince was a fan of Kate Bush. Her song This Woman's Work. Today we forget the worth of recording studios.

I've watched this interview before. I knew what to expect but this time I was even more surprised by how unbelievably unprepared and downright rude the interviewer is. It's like every new question/ comment has some kind of little dig in it. Watching Kate's face and trying to read her real emotions in her eyes is interesting- She has incredible poise to keep her answers so positive when she must have been really taken aback by the questions.

Couldn't help but lmao listening to this debacle and reading all of the comments below. Kate was definitely calm and patient with this interviewer. But, there is a reason for this - she's had lots of practice - with English interviewers. This is well before her visit to the US. There are some really cringe-worthy interviews with men asking the questions. But, this one is definitely the icing on the cake. Uh, make that icing splattered on the top of the cake after it falls ass-over-tea-kettle onto a rain-drenched road. Loved the way Kate said 'Love', in a way only she can say it.

English interviewers such as who? Provide a few names please. Cause I remember her from the beginning and I doubt there was one interviewer in England that was totally unaware of who she is and what she's done. Just provide a few names cause I've seen most of her tv interviews and don't remember one 'male English' interviewer ever showing such a complete lack of interest of asking such robotic scripted questions or who treated her like some silly pop star. But I'll take a guess you're not English and if you are then you wasn't in the late 70s, and if you were, then like I said, feel free to qualify your claim with a few examples.

People here are being awfully harsh on the interviewer, just for getting the name of the song momentarily wrong. She immediately corrected herself and was generally respectful in her questioning throughout the interview, so I don't know what the big deal is. People are saying Simmons was acting "like a judge in a courtroom" and I have no idea what they're referring to. I've seen far, far worse from supposed journalists!

I totally agree with you. Kate was a largely unknown quantity in the USA and she never presented herself like a typical pop star and I think that gave rise to a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere and an interview that never really got anywhere.

What a freaking horrible interviewer. Kate Bush definitely did not deserve that kind of treatment. However, it does show us how poised and wonderful she truly is in the face of the crass and ignorant.

When Kate says 'Love' right after the host botches 'Running (racing) up that Hill' I get chills all over my body and my hair stands up. What a magical creature. I also love her cute cheek dimple under her eye :D

Just appalled at how unprofessional this interviewer was. Getting the name of her hit song wrong, calling a Fairlight a 'Fairchild'... she clearly didn't even bother doing her homework before showing up.

How come! That interviewer was firing questions at Kate, not really interviewing. It's not like she was disinterested, she seemed to really despise Kate without even knowing enough about her. And yes Kate handled it very well and gracefully.

WOW that was uncomfortable. The interviewer was more like a judge in court grilling the person on the stand. You could see Kate's extreme discomfort after answering some of the questions, but she maintained her grace.

Yes. I remember a lot of artists in the 80's using the Fairchild. Like Peter Garbriel, Bryan Neo and Thomas Dobly. I think Sue Simmons would be right in saying that you could fart into it and it sounded like a 50 piece orchestra. Is that right?
