Just orderd the magicyoyo v3 and in the title it says its a responsive one, and in the description it says you can turn it into an unresposive. I hope i get the resposive one bc i dont know anything of yoyos :(((

I like your videos man but sometimes I feel like you jumped on a bandwagon about certain things. Like you wouldn’t want to drive a car that wasn’t being maintained with oil changes and car washes but you wouldn’t be hesitant about doing those things on a car either. Yoyos are the same way they are made from metals which have different expansion and contraction rates and also different necessities as pre-load and lubrication and cages which changes the coefficient of friction and effects overall rpm and how long it can spin. I feel like yoyo companies have encouraged this mysticism about yo-yos so that people buy more axels and bearings and yo-yos. The reason axels are locked in good yo-yos isn’t always bc someone tuned them like that it’s because when the threads are tapped perfectly and the length of both half’s of threads is precisely the same length as the axle and stainless steel has a different expansion ratio then aluminum then after you screw the axle in loose with your fingers and you tighten the yoyo half’s together and you check for vibe and tune the yoyo the thing that your actually tuning is the preload of the bearing for one and by tightening or loosening your changing how much the axle threads are torquing against the yoyo threads by the axle having nowhere to go bc it’s bottomed out in the yoyo half and believe it or not that’s actually changing the shape of that yoyo half by a microscopic amount by putting stress on different parts of that yoyo half. So when a yo-yo is super well designed and built the expansion ratios , bearing preload, and anti corrosives/ lubricants should all be taken into consideration which would mean when you assemble the yoyo without tightening anything more than it’s supposed to be and then you ship it and it gets cold and hot and cold and hot then the different metals are all experiencing growth and shrinkage while adding to the fact that when the threads were tapped maybe there’s a burr inside them or a tiny tiny bit of dust then you can end up with it locked in there but honestly that’s why as soon as a yoyo gets to me I unscrew it and take the axel out and I put blue gel loctitite just a drip and then I take my finger and pull the drip all the way around the axel so it gets into all the threads and then I screw the axel back in with my fingers and then a wrench till I feel it bottom out then I back it off just a hair then I shoot some acetone followed by compressed air into the deshielded bearing then I rotate the bearing a couple times and repeat the I take a needle and put a half drip on yo tricks thin lube and it and I put that tiny drop on the end of the pin on the side wall of the bearing and I put the bearing on my bearing remover and I spin it and I hold a lighter near it just for a couple seconds to make the lube spread out easier and more evenly which if you put the right amount of lube you should have a 100 percent unresponsive yoyo that will not come back no matter how you tug it and then I screw the yoyo together just until I feel the two sides touch then I test throw it and then I tighten just a hair and repeat until it’s perfectly smooth then I play with that yoyo problem free forever while still adding a half drop of lube every time I can hear that it needs it.

The monometal I want is $100 and it's known to be hard to tune... I could actually probably buy a better bimetal for cheaper. If I ran a yoyo company, I would only sell one yoyo design, but it would come in every variety: plastic, aliminum, bimetal with brass, bimetal with steel, and mini titanium with delrin sides. They'd obviously look slightly different, but they'd all be designed to play and feel the exact same.

I take my yoyos apart just to replace strings or fix knots, and re-tuning my throw is one of my favorite parts.

I thought my magicyoyo was just bad but i then realized i suck at yoyoing

Another winning tutorial. I've been able to land this trick intermittently, but never really understood how it worked. Your slo-mo and showing where the whipped loop travels is what brought it all together. Literally first time I tried it after watching, nailed it 5 times in a row!

I've been watching a lot of your tutorials lately and they are very helpful. I've been working on the fingerspin for awhile and I just can't get the bind down for whatever reason. After watching this one, I got a little better sense of what's happening when you whip it into the gap, so that was very helpful! Back to practicing!

I have the Duncan metal drifter and it’s really wobbly, am I throwing it wrong?

I appreciate the detail and especially the fact that you classified this trick as advanced. Almost every other tutorial makes it seem like it’s an easy trick to learn. For me, far from it.

I think I solved my issue. I was letting go of the thumb pinch after performing the slack, which resulted in a premature bind. Am I right? This is my current struggle with the trick.

This was the only tutorial I could find that gave clarity on hand movement to create the loop. I went from landing 1 out of 100 to 8 out of 10 in 5 minutes of practice afterward.
