I wasn’t around in the 70s but it’s crazy how different people and everything else looked at that time! I see a lot of comments saying that people were skinnier because of no fast food and according to my parents who grew up in the 70s that is false. There was indeed fast food, in fact fast food goes back to the 50s but maybe they weren’t as widespread and available as they are today. My parents say that the main reason that people were skinnier back then is because food portions were smaller and people were more active.

I was born here.. the native las Vegans, got outnumbered and colonized, by foreign occupants. They turned it into TIJUAWAII , Sad, to say, but those white people, you just seen, would be homeless, today, with no help, in Vegas. Didn't really recognize blacks, in this video. And the city never gave them, recognition, so it is what it is.. thus, excellent archive, tho.. that's how the world was when I opened my eyes.. thanks

Not 8mm home movies. This is 16mm Kodachrome. Probably Kodachrome 25. What's the story behind this footage? It's not professional quality, but better than a naive amatuer would produce. Much of it is handheld, but there are some moments when the camera was on a tripod. Some rough pans on the tripod. Relatively expensive equipment. I'm guessing this was taken by a young student photographer. Even tries some close ups.

This footage was shot by Ray Dennis Steckler, one of the ‘worst’ directors of all time and the man behind THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES.

Frankly, Vegas today sucks! Waaaaaay overpriced, and all corporate. Back then it was a relaxing getaway with cheap food, drinks, gambling, and of course girls. Those days are 50 years gone.

The songs used are listed in the description. They come from a library of instrumental music made for corporate use.

I moved to Las Vegas to attend UNLV on the 2nd of July, 1976. Left for good some 8 years later, in 1984. So I consider that I spent the best years there that the city has ever seen. I wouldn't be caught dead there now, obviously.
