Just getting into Sovereigns. I saw the book you mentioned ' Gold sovereign series' has been revised by Steve Hill and is due for release this August 2024. As someone getting into sovereigns, would you recommend getting the new book or perhaps just the standard initila book you referenced? thanks.

I saw NGC has another 13 slabbed out of original 125 FDOI. So mint stuck more than 125 mintage or someone strike 13 pcs recertification from the original 25 pcs of PF69? Interesting what said from NGC and mint.

I loved what you shared. I have great respect for you, but I’ve lost respect for the grading company. Seems they can make up the grading rules as they go , and not be held responsible for any belief that someone can expect an honest evaluation ? Justifying in Exploiting how people innocently put their trust in their grading skills as professional ? Is there small print in any paperwork you sign when you send your coins in ? That states they can not be held liable or accountable for being unethical ..not doing their job ? This is More than just taking advantage of you ! Do they Believe that this is To no fault of their own, that you trusted in their judgement, Let alone Paid a considerable amount of money in good faith , for a service considered to be exemplary ? Errr… this Pissed me off!! Your coins were beautiful.! I’d call them on that! get them graded again .. really..how many people have they screwed over because they were in a hurry or didn’t feel like doing their job ?? Or maybe an employee is exhibiting a god like complex? who’s gonna challenge them ? They are the most expensive of grading services.. from what I hear. This needs to be dealt with properly .. you deserve an apology & a refund, ask to have them graded by a professional!! ?? I apologize for my outburst! But geez, really!! ?? You have amazing coins!

Fake people wear fake watches, if you cannot afford something, instead of a clone, buy an homage, it's often better than the fake and are not fake. But of course, with a fake Rolex or a fake Pan, even 99% of people know or assume it's a fake, at least 1% think you are rich. What an egoboost, being though rich by random dudes. If it's for the style and look, buy an homage. But morons don't buy replicas because they love a model or a brand, but just to look less pathetic and miserable they actually are. They know their personal value and the only way to try to improve it, is to look richer or better they are, fake clothes, fake sunglasses, fake watche, used Pontiac Fiero with a Ferrari body kit, ... But all of the normal folks, know they wear fakes and consider them for what they really are, trash.

I’m kinda surprised. You’ve sent in these coins for grading and I can buy them at my local coin store for spot or just slightly above. To me they are just bullion. Why would you want to spend money on shipping and grading ?

Some fantastic things there Numi. As to the modern thing. I like medals, but I'm not interested in that design, not interested in the price point and no interested in the size. I can understand why they decided to choose that medal, it would be predicated on the connection with it's designer and they would be thinking it would therefore be a safe bet. Secondarily the historical context of the medal would be a factor in their choosing that design. I have no idea if it's a celebrated medal, so forgive my naivety in this comment. There are however, so many nice designs which were churned out in the 19th Century (and the early 20th) from which 'product' for the Royal Mint could be mined. ("product" was a choice of words which pokes fun at the Royal Mint infomercial, heh).

Probably one of the most interesting subjects to be brought up I guess one of the contributing factors to coins is how does the coin market compete to a home loan at 6 % or bank interest at 3% . This is an old video now but I’m curious because a lot of what you say is true today. In 2024 if you could post a video on returns on coins I guess this will fall into the art industry backed up by the bullion industry but not necessarily the bullion industry. . It’s all rather confusing if you could clarify. Regards

Rare items do indeed have their ups and downs, but over a period of time they do seem to generally rise. We’ve gone through a period of low interest rates and interest rates will rise to average at 4 or 5%. The higher interest rates go up the higher the regular savings returns are and that generally reduces the demand for things like coins.

I must say, i dont like pre 33 going to any other country, but i guess its more important that the pre 33 goes all over the planet than not in order to save it, for example, i have 1924 1 ruble communiat, great coin, i have a 1936 maybe, right before our best friend of germany did well. The shit the soviets made was still under america, well, well? Our coins were pretty good, the silver ones anyhow

Just my opinion: get rid of your replica watches (pack them away in a cupboard), keep your genuine watches, reserve your dress watches for special occasions, and get insurance on your Submariner. That way you can wear your Submariner as a daily.

Terrible terrible terrible investment. Buy retail and MAYBE (if you’re lucky) get wholesale (50% of Retail) when you sell (as you get into a grading argument with the buyer as a negotiation tactic. Illiquid, risky, enriches the few at the expense of the many. No thanks. I regret every coin purchase I’ve ever made.

It’s happened to me, I recently purchased a pre33 type 3 Indian head dollar. I later discovered that coin was counterfeit. It still checked out as 22kt gold. My LCS took it back. I figured if I find another counterfeit I’ll just have it made into a pendant if it test as gold.
