That's beautiful. And it costs less than getting my vintage Omega Seamaster serviced by a factory authorized jeweler. I need some alternative to the overpriced Swatch Group watches but I won't buy Chinese.

i don't get why they keep comparing this to the skx, it's way better. applied indices, framed day-date window, colormatched day-date wheel, handwinding and a certified diver.

I bought mine 6 years ago for 240$ as a gift for my 30th Birthday and to remember the one I was fascinated as a kid but somehow broke trying to see hou tough it is. After 6 years I love everything about it and the jubilee bracelet is as comfortable as cloth. I am a 1 watch guy, I do have people arround me with very very expensive pieces they are nice but this one is mine it fits me and is on par with everything I carry and the wayu I am.

shoudnt a "proper" crown be plugged as a last step? he puts it in first and then removes anyway before putting it in the case.. justbtonputbit back on. looks like 2 redundant steps

@PeterKotsa
@PeterKotsa Күн бұрын
The Hamilton is a very nice looking watch and you bought it for a reason, because it spoke to you in some way or another. At the end of the day it comes down to personal taste and preferences..I cant tell you, (neither can anyone) what to buy or sell..thats totally your subjective decision. If you do sell it though, just remember you're going from an automatic to manual wind..cheers 👍

I have a feeling the crown is just a tiny bit too big? maybe if it would be 1mm recessed into the case?... but the general design is gorgeous. Looking at their offering, I have a feeling that they don't know where to go next? Every watch seems to be just the same watch, just different material/finish, different dial, but generally a never ending rehash?

Hi peter , great vid as always . The chinese are producing some amazing watches now , and this shows they are prepared to do higher end pieces. I have a san martin and seestern in my collection and they are amazing for little money. The finishing is nearly on par with my tudors , and they also keep good time , with no issues. In some ways they are better proportioned than the watches they are copying . The tudor pro was too thick for a 39mm watch , but the san martin version is a lot thinner , making it better to wear . Obviously the main gripe is that they are just copying designs , which is a shame or a bonus depending on your viewpoint. The thing I like about them most is , you can wear them and not worry about them getting bashed and losing them in the sea !!! They also look great on and it questions your sanity to pay 5k for a swiss watch. I believe in time many people who like automatics may just go for one , in the style they like because they are getting so good now. No worries about an expensive service either ten years down the line , you could just get a new model. I know we have affinity with certain brands , but it might be the case of getting one really nice watch , and several chinese ones to satisfy our cravings . The enjoyment level isn't that far removed from the famous brands , speaking from experience.

@@PeterKotsa yeah sorry pete I've got a lot going on in my personal life , with elderly parents etc, so watches have taken a bit of a back burner for me. I love watches , I always have , but ive hit a point in my life , where family comes first. Ive also reached a point that I wonder if expensive swiss watches are actually that good anymore, especially for what they cost. Even seikos possibly my favourite brand by the Japanese are getting silly now compared to what they were. Its all a bit weird at the moment ,as I'm enjoying a seestern Chinese copy watch , as much as a 5k tudor ? It kinda question your sanity a little. Still love my sla043 , and it still feels special because it is. But as I've said before it wouldn't surprise me one bit , if the chinese become the dominant force in watches. Obviously this will take time , but I remember samsung being a cheap brand , but now they are dominant brand in the phone industry .

Seiko movement has a lower beat rate, worse bracelet, worse lume, the bezel slides around and the finishing is inferior. This comment was written by someone who is currently wearing the watch you're referring to.

This watch really comes to life in this video, great job shooting it. I've seen the pictures and it didn't really do much for me. But it looks amazing here. Every little detail they seemed to have nailed. But then they put in that movement. Sigh. Just source an ETA 2892 or SW300 and call it a day here. I'm assuming they wanted to show off a Chinese movement, but I don't believe it's ready for primetime.

Maybe it is just me, but why is it that so often the review says NOTHING about accuracy? All I ask for is this example: "I wore it for a week and after 7 days it is +22 seconds." - or something like that. Not scientific, but at least that would be SOMETHING. Ok, it was "adjusted to 5 positions". Fine. Give me accuracy specs, THEN your actual accuracy experience. Is that too much to ask?

"There's no back play". Seriously man, we can see the back play in the bezel in the video. Why try and hide that? It's a known issue that others have mentioned. The bezel backplay is THE reason I have not bought a Sinn diver. When they get that issue taken care of I'll get one. Until they are a pass.
@PeterKotsa
@PeterKotsa 3 күн бұрын
A bezel needs to have a small amount of movement in order to allow for grit and sand to be washed out after usage..that’s a given. This bezel has the correct amount of movement. If it was more pronounced then I would have said so…that’s why I said it has no backplay. Hope that makes sense, cheers 👍
@overbuiltlimited
@overbuiltlimited 3 күн бұрын
@@PeterKotsa It comes down to credibility. If people can't trust what you say then it renders the review moot. Stating there is no back play is an absolute statement. There were no qualifiers mentioned or even hinted at. As to the "need" for there to be play in the bezel, we'll have to agree to disagree. I have watches with bezels that have bezel play as well as watches with nearly zero play. None of them like grit. I definitely prefer small tolerances and precision over lose and sloppy. To use an apt comparison, yes, an AK47 variant will take more abuse than most magazine fed rifles and still function, but no one would willingly choose one to make precision hits. The AR-15 platform is far superior in that regard. Keep your tools clean and they will work when you need them.

It’s like those 80’s kit cars that you got a donor VW beetle for, and you put on fibreglass panels to try and make it look like a Ferrari. Peter says ‘if there’s one thing…the movement’… Tell Attelier Wen to come back to us when they get an adult movement. Zelos has been doing a better job on the watches it comes out with using the LJP 100 at less than 1/3 the price…

I've handled this watch a few times, and the dial is every bit as beautiful and impressive as suggested. While a better movement is a nice to have, the dealbreaker for me is the bracelet. It's just too ridged and inflexible to fit all wrist sizes and types. In my case, with a smaller wrist than Mr Kotsa, the caseback didn't actually manage to touch my wrist - it floated slightly above it held in place by the stiff bracelet. If they addressed this, it would be a home run!
