Heh. That's pretty funny the lyric, "I'll eat when I'm hungry and drink when I'm dry - get to feeling much better, gonna sprout wings and fly" came from Tommy. That's probably my favorite lyric of the song. I usually wrap up the tune it on that pretty measure that begins with C maj by singing that verse, then again with the, "gonna make myself welcome wherever I go" line.

These times past should never be forgotten. This is the true meaning of the word family. People will never be able to get this back. It's our heritage and who we are and where we come from. I'm proud to live here in south central Louisiana ( Cajun country). This is an experience that you just can't get any where else. The culture, the lifestyle and the people. Old ways that are getting lost with time. I'm 65 years old and if I could only go backwards in time, this is where I would want to stay and live forever. Charles Thibodeaux

"The great French accordionist" Clifton Chenier wasn't French, he was American. He was born, grew up and died in the US. It is such a shame that the US has had a monocultural, anglo-homogenistic attitude to its people, because Louisiana, and other places and even the native north American people and the greater cultural diversity of the US has lost so much because of such attitudes.

That's a remarkable old fiddle, that survived the American Civil War, so why not treat it to a bit of tender loving care? Having it caked in rosin dust like that is not going to do it any favours. You really do not need so much rosin on your bow since the strings will retain tackiness as a result of playing. Keep the body of your fiddle clean, you will get a much better sound out of it, and also your fiddle will look so much better too.

Criterion put out a box set of Les Blank’s documentaries a few years ago. It’s also streaming on the Criterion Channel.
