I have put 2 power steering pumps, 2 alternators and 2 air conditioning compressors on my 1990 silverado this summer. Factory parts lasted 34 years and replaceme t parts don't last a month. And I buy new units not rebuilt. Where is the quality control? And parts dealers are content to give you replacement but my time, energy, and missed car shows is aggravating! I feel for you! I guess I drive my new car and sell the old one. No fun anymore.

Whenever I have a stubborn bleeder sucking in air, I apply synthetic grease around the bleeder threads. If the bleeder is opened too much then it will show many bubbles in the clear line. Today’s China made parts are disgustingly useless.

Perhaps you are right when you indicated the effectiveness of 205 additive was not fully compatible with your other additive you already had in the engine. This is what I am also wondering with my 1974 Toyota. My Toyota have minute oil pan gasket leak. I am using 20-50W engine oil with Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer which keeps my engine noise quiet and other benefits. If I use this 205, it might not work with Lucas, which I might end up like your case. Yes, to do the job right to stop leak, the source of leak, in which my case, is to take off the oil pan, which is also quite difficult to remove it, completely and install new gasket. And as you said, taking my vintage Toyota to some crocked mechanic there is no guarantee that they will do the job correctly and end up spending thousands of dollars which will only frustrates me at the end. If I had a hoist, I can possibly do it myself. I really think if I add the 205 I will not get the full benefit with mixing with Lucas and oil. There is no one on youtube talks about mixing with Lucas and the result. Maybe too much additive added to the engine might not be a good idea as well.

Yes, this is something that many people have suggested, but I'm not sure if there's any validity to this idea. I'm going to have to try it again another time with no other additive.

Had an '86 6 cyl "Gutless Cutlass". Seafoam green, Brougham model with the velour bench seat in front. God I loved that car. I wish I still had it. It was so easy to drive. Smooth and floated down the road. Great visibility. It just felt so open inside; not cramped like modern cars.Totally comfortable and luxurious feeling. If I still had it, I'd just do an LS swap and tighten up the suspension a bit. Great car.

I loved my '86 Cutlass Salon I bought used in '87 to replace my '78 Turbo Regal, after the turbo went out for the second time. It was metallic maroon with white pinstripes and T-tops and had the exact same interior as your 442. The only thing I changed was adding a K&N air filter, aluminized dual exhaust, and replaced the wire wheel covers/wheels and whitewall tires with American Racing chrome nugget wheels and Goodyear Eagle ST tires. I would have taken a 442 over the Salon, had I found one. I really wanted a Grand National, but the insurance was killer for a college student. Then the GNX came out...they had one at the Buick dealership in the little town of Greencastle, IN, where I was in school, at DePauw University and became completely obsessed. If I had been a little older, with a job and money, I'd probably still have it today, although I'd miss the T-tops my Cutlass had. I still have pictures of it, though! Of these two, I'd take the GN, since neither have T-tops. I do agree the gauges were way cooler on the Cutlass and never understood why the baddest of the G Body cars had the same granny gauge cluster as every other Buick, with the exception of the turbo boost gauge. The GNX had the best gauge cluster, though, for sure!

I had a cutlass salon also when I was very young- around 19. I only kept it a couple years and sold it to by an IROC. The cutlass was a much better car! I wish the GN came with the GNX dash. I have been hesitant to change anything about my GN dash because it’s a legit low mileage car.

Tony, the ECM controls the fan-on and fan-off temperature. You have to burn the settings onto the 64 pin ecm removable bios chip, which I have done and it works great ! I used TunerPro software and a cheap bios chip burner to copy the settings down, interpret them, reset them and re-burn the chip with new fan on and fan off temp. All the in-block sender does is send the temp to the ECM, and then the ECM decides when the fan comes on or off. Unfortunately, those ecms were programmed from the factory to run at 220, so when the ecm metals degrade a bit the fan/on fan/off starts to very a few degrees. The answer is to force it to run at a little bit lower than 220 (like all cars did previously, and today they do) and you are good forever. I set my fan on to like 188 or 190 instead of 200+ and now my car runs at a cool 190 degrees all the time! Good for the engine too to run cooler. Good for your next year power tour -- sitting in traffic too ! Never mind, maybe 1984 did not use ecm. Not sure. mine is 1992.
@nowherefastgarage
@nowherefastgarage 27 күн бұрын
Hey Bud. In 1984 the Camaro Z28 HO used a separate fan switch for the electric fan. This is the one in the head. There was also a temperature sensor for the ECM in the water neck, but that was only used to adjust fuel enrichment (I think) when it is cold out. Later years, the ECM controls the fan as you described. I took the ECM and harness completely out of this car when I replaced the distributor with a standalone HEI style. These fan switches are just more cheap junk that don't work right! If anyone knows of one that turns on at a lower temp and actually works, please let me know!

A 1995 s10, I converted the mechanical fan to dual electric fans from a Grand Am. To get the fans to come on and off I bought a dual fan controller from a company called Davies Craig. The controller has 2 separate circuits, relays, and fuses. It also has a led read out and is adjustable. I know you only have 1 fan and the sell single controllers also. Might be something that can help you out. By the way, I miss the 3rd gen camaros... I had 2. I also had 2 2nd gens and a 69 that was so rotted out it fell apart (rear leaf spring came through the trunk at the rear!). I live in Georgia now but I am from Long Island( that explains the rotted out trunk and frame😅)

I've participated in the "Southern Classic" and will be in the inaugural running of the "War Between the Interstates." May even do the next running of the "US Express;" those events are a lot smaller, good group, you definitely run the cars and it's not done in stages- you take off & go, non-stop
