Thank you so much for your video. We plan on making a trip to the area. Your video was helpful, even though a little bleak. What happened to the area is sad.

St. Joseph is the birthplace of actress Olive Young. Her parents were Chinese-Americans and owned a medical service in St. Joe. Later she would move to Hong Kong and become the "Mary Pickford" of Chinese cinema! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olive_Young_(actress)

My dad lived where they were building the statue, and saw it being brought up to the mountain. My family came from Walkerville and Williamsburg. The hills used to be barren from the smelters and the toxic soil. But now, life is coming back.

When my son and I would travel the country we'd name our tours. BAR Tour: Bridges, Arches, and Rocking Chair (went to the five tallest bridges in the US, plus places like Bridges National Park, St. Louis Arch, Arches National, Keyhole in western Kansas, and photographed my dad's rocking chair). COW Tour: California, Oregon, and Washington.

Definitely stay off of the interstates when driving through the middle part of country. It isn't always possible as once you get to the far west desert areas, it can be difficult to find two-lane paved roads.

It is interesting that China and America are so similar in some ways geographically. Going too far west will lead to the desert, but it is beautiful out there.

I grew up in Clarksburg and in middle school we would get "rewarded" with good behavior by getting to go on the Clarksburg historic walking tour and eat lunch at a park right by the Clarksburg fire dept. but I will say as someone from Clarksburg,, Stonewall Jackson might be a part of of our history but he truly is not a significant part of our history and I am not sure why he is so amplified. He doesnt represent what Clarksburg stands for or for the union history Clarksburg has. Clarksburg was the first place in WV to start a union base and it became extremely important during the civil war, which by far is more important than someone being born there and then being a traitor. It also represents us as a community and not just Clarksburg's but West Virginia's history of coming together and sticking up for one another in times of unjust. like the Coal Miners war that happened in WV. the pepperoni roll was also created by Italian immigrant coal miners wives because they did not always have a lot of time for lunch and needed something that could travel into the mines well but also be held with one hand and boom pepperoni roll was formed and would be a better statue in front of the court house lololol I feel like my comment seems negative but I do not mean it that way! just sharing Clarksburg's history from how I have been taught it. I loved this video and loved that you went and asked questions. Clarksburg, like a lot of Appalachia has a very intricate, long, deep history that is sometimes overlooked or misunderstood due to the hardships we face now. I hope everyone you met was friendly and you had the best time <3
