If you are using toilet recycled paper, it takes years for it to compost. We collect it in a bag and burn it or drop it in the trash.

I have a Nature's Head. I think people figure if there's no TP then the excreta will evaporate the water, reducing down in size by at least 50% - thus doubling your capacity use before needing to empty the Nature's Head. But as this vid points out - you want the carbon ratio for composting. Actually you want natural compost that has aerobic bacteria in it to really kick in the composting process.

If urine is sterile and an effective fertilizer, why run it thru the solids in the chamber and contaminate it? Shouldn't urine be separated before hitting the chamber? Or am I seeing that all wrong?
@waterwally437
@waterwally437 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah good question Paula! Keeping the urine separate and using it as a fertiliser can be a great thing to do... The idea of the urine running into the same chamber as the solids is really just about simplicity and making it all user freindly. Also, it is often beneficial to keep the urine running into the main compost pile to prevent it from becoming too dry. It all comes down to variables including the climate that you're in and what you're trying to achieve with your setup. Cheers!

The "Parts Included" page says 10 bio bags. It had 2 in the flat envelope in the bottom of the box. When you raise the lid it has to go over the vent lip to lock in place. Have to grind away a bit of the lid to keep it working as needed. All support said "Never saw that before" and that's it. Thanks

I purchased the NL2 and have had it in operation for about 2 months, there are 2 main problems that are annoying. Firstly, the top section just sits on the lower section without a snug fit or clips so when you lean, 50% of the time the top wants to come off also and I'm only 70kg. Secondly, the bottom section is not designed properly to discard of all liquid waste, the drain is a few mm higher from the actual base and there are contours in the plastic which actually trap the liquid instead of diverting it to the outlet, this means when you change the basket, it has been sitting in liquid waste and drips a bit and makes cleaning a pain in the bum as your using too much of the water you would have saved. Disappointing for the price.
@waterwally437
@waterwally437 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark - yeah, there are a few minor design faults with this model. I've actually been using this exact model at my house for around 5 years now and we've found it pretty simple and trouble-free. It's not perfect but it's simple and simple is good! Thanks for your input anyway. If you have any questions or there is anything I can help you with, please let me know. Cheers!

@Kayte...
@Kayte... Жыл бұрын
Far less poisons than a septic tank or municipal sewage treatment plant. And not wasting gallons of precious water. It's certainly a step in the right direction and then when unbleached, unscented, undecorated TP is readily available that'll be the next step. Otherwise you'll be using leaves.

Yes! I've been saying the same thing for years. Plus, you can use a sheet of paper towel for a big job. Try using that in a flush toilet and bad things will happen. At the moment, my pipes are frozen, so the flusher is useless. My Luggable Loo is now in service and the toilet paper goes right in the bag in the bucket with a good covering of all with pine pet bedding. Cedar smells nice, but takes forever to break down, like oak leaves. When the bag is full, it'll go in a corner of my back garden for a year, then I'll add the contents to my regular compost bin. How do you remove the composting bin when you change over bins to ensure that the shute is aligned?
@waterwally437
@waterwally437 2 жыл бұрын
The chute stays in a fixed position and the lid slides up the chute. You then remove one bin and replace it with another and when you connect the lid to the new bin it pulled everything into the correct alignment. I'm going to post another video showing this shortly. Hope this helps!
