What a great run by Risen Star. What would’ve been extra thrilling is if he had made the move his daddy did during his Preakness: going from last to first, in one explosive swoop, at the first turn. This father-son duo provided some great thrills! As did Bold Ruler, the sire of Secretariat who also won the Preakness 🏆

Correction: This is Chinese New Year. The Chinese lunar calendar originated from China, including the famous lion and dragon dances. Please do not misappropriate Chinese culture. China is an ancient civilization with vast and great influences in many countries. Vietnam was under China's rule for 1000 years, both Japan and South Korea were once tributary states of China's and many other Asian countries had adopted the Chinese New Year celebrations.

@@changvideofamily Yes, but give credit to where it belongs. Please do not steal and misappropriate Chinese culture. China is an ancient civilization with vast and great influences in many countries. Vietnam was under China's rule for 1000 years, both Japan and South Korea were once tributary states of China's and many other Asian countries had adopted the Chinese New Year celebrations because of China's strong influence in their countries. But if you ask them, they will deny that's it's anything to do with Chinese or China. This started only recently because of antiChinese and antiChina geopolitical environment among the west and their dogs SK and Vietnam and Japan. All these countries are all celebrating Chinese New Year but they purposely removed the word 'Chinese' to disassociate with Chinese and China, and also to claim it's theirs especially those ungrateful Vietnamese and SK. This is blatant racism and stealing other cultures. Our culture is an important part of our ethnicity. There are many western people who are aware of this situation and when they post they make sure they mention in their subject title Chinese New Year. Ironically it's the ASPI, Vietnamese and SK are the worst because when they post they will remove the word 'Chinese'. Their action may seem subtle but it's not at all trivial because their intentions are very obvious. In my years of fighting enemies with antiChinese and antiChina geopolitical environment, ironically what breaks my heart most is the disunity and those Chinese like yourself who whether you pretend to be dead, dumb, blind or indifferent, still post exactly what these enemies like you to post = without the word 'Chinese'. They have successfully tricked you to think it's nothing, it's okay. I feel this is very sad, a tragedy of our entire ethnicity and culture.

Remember divided we fall, united we stand. Hopefully you can do more research and be more aware what is really happening.

I saw John Gosden (English trainer, maybe the best in the world) on television a few years back giving an interview about his history as a trainer. His first job as a trainer was in California. He spoke a little about that time and how the training regime was different than in the UK (in the US, horses are stabled at the track. In the UK they live and train on farms). While speaking of the morning routine in the U.S., he said while stationed at Santa Anita, he'd see the horses in their white bridles enter the track as a group.....and it reminded him of the East German gymnastic team. I immediately understood what he meant. Very telling, from a man who is generally quite reserved, in that British way. If you know who the white bridles belong to and you know what the East German gymnastic team was notorious for, you'll also know exactly what he meant.

What a terrible ride by Day as always, going wide on the first turn pushing Winning Colors out. Then allowing Risen Star to move along the inside turning for home. Day is the worst big race rider maybe ever. Easy Goer would maybe have been undefeated with a better jockey. Day sucks!

Ive never seen a worse case of Sacrificing a horse, so another speed horse couldn't win! Woody Stevens swore he would go after the filly "and not let her win".. Pay Day rode 4-5 paths out from the rail, the whole way around, why would you do that? All because Woody Stevens didn't think filly's should compete with the boys. Gary Stevens said he would try and take back, Pat Day would Mimic whatever he did.i always wonder what vector the careers of both these horses would have took, had it not been for this fiasco. Winning Colors lost 150 lbs. After the Derby and probably shouldn't have run. Certainly no sense in running in the Belmont She ran one more bang up race in the BC, in the front running favoring slop at Churchill, against Personal Ensign. Maybe the best BC race ever run. ( People forget Goodbye Halo was right there too, beaten about 1 length.)Forty Niner ran a couple of good races, but never really came to fruition. Risen Star was the best horse as it turns out. Woulda liked to see a fair fight. "I coulda driven a truck, 2 trucks through there" "I figured, might as well go on with him" --Eddie D.

Yeah no doubt, however, 49ers Jockey Pat Day was TOLD to RIDE the Colt that EXACT WAY by his Trainer (Woody Stephens) !!! They were NOT gonna let Winning Colors(Filly) jump out to an easy lead & coast home like she did in the Kentucky Derby 2 weeks earlier, , unfortunately...!! I wish they would have I LUV the Fillies...!!! Anyways, Winning Colors Still finished 3rd which was truly remarkable considering Forty-Niner (49er) was bumping her & pushing her farther & farther out going down the entire backside & up to about where they turn for Home....Forty Niner ended up 5th or maybe even 6th , as it turns out...

In the Derby, Pat Day on Forty-Niner allowed Winning Colors to set a moderate, uncontested pace, so she had enough left to barely hang on at the end, and every handicapper knows that those are the race conditions that will allow a horse to run their optimal performance. Going into the Preakness, Forty-Niner's trainer Woody Stephens vowed that wouldn't happen again, and gave Day instructions to press the pace, saying "We may finish next-to-last, but they (meaning Winning Colors and Gary Stevens) will finish last." So, they engaged in a speed duel that was suicidal for both, with Day trying to force Winning Colors as wide as he could, and that was all Delahoussaye and Risen Star needed.

@@chrispafrieddreams9118 Not so much about Winning Colors being a filly, but more about Woody Stephens realizing he'd f***ed up allowing Winning Colors to get out to that uncontested pace, and he overreacted.
