Just doing taxi runs at moment but there are plans to scratch build a flying aircraft (see the peoples Mosquito project). Still it was nice to see one moving again as I haven't seen one moving since the week before the Barton Mosquito crash in 1996.

Back when RIAT was a brilliant airshow.... Used to get at least 550 planes there. Now you're lucky to get 300.... I think it was 1993, a Sky Warrior was on static display at Fairford.... And who could forget the SR71 Blackbird?

@@stevethomas8375 So do I Steve, there doesn't seem to be the variety of aircraft that you used to get. And the price per ticket is way out of my price range, you practically need a second mortgage.

@@nigelbevan8449 Totally agree. First went to a show at Greenham Common in the 70's as a kid then went to the local Staverton show in the 80's. From late 80's to about 2005 went to loads of great shows all around the country and some in France/Belgium. That was the golden period of warbird restoration with the Hannah's and Stephen Grey restoring and flying so many great aircraft. Also there were so many military shows both British and American with some great aircraft just finishing service or just coming into service. Especially miss shows such as Mildenhall, Woodford and Middle Wallop (who can forget over 110 helicopters rising up over the hill behind the airfield). As for price I remember when you paid for a car to get into Shuttleworth so we'd cram as many people in as we could. I just wish the camera equipment was available then that we have now. I've had a large gap visiting shows due to various reasons and have only just started to return to them but I can't justify the cost of many shows so I've got to pick carefully. As you say the aviation scene is very limited today due to military cut backs and aircraft insurance etc but you've just got to enjoy what you can see and be thankful that you've seen stuff that modern enthusiasts can only dream about!

@@stevethomas8375 Yes indeed. I remember going to the airshows at Boscombe Down, Binbrook, Woodford, Mildenhall (scoffing burgers) and Waddington, to name but a few. as well as attending a few in Europe and the a couple in the States (Edwards and Point Mugu). I last went to RIAT when The Thunderbirds display team was at Fairford and something came over me and I just decided to pack my stuff up, get in my car and go home. As the year's have gone on I have no regrets of the airshows I've attended in the past, but I don't think I would attend one now. You can only photograph an F35 or a Typhoon so many times. Like you stated, I feel somewhat sorry for the aviation enthusiast these days due to the defence cuts.

By far the best airshows up north. I remember walking down the main road in poynton and seeing the silhouette of the B1b and my jaw dropped! Decided not to bother in the end, although seems they still put on a good show!

Is film by Cole Ave Bridge in Gloucester? Most late afternoons from school, lots of us waited for the 4.15 usual scrap engine train haul going to Barry. Sad events but provided sightings of many other regional locomotives.

I was born in late December 1964 and recall my late mother recollecting how she had to walk through waist-deep snow from our house (north of Bridgend) to the main road, to be admitted to hospital. I'm glad the severe winter of 1964/65 in South Wales has at last been recognized, as most accounts focus on the 1963/64 snowfall. Thank you so much!

Hello, I did a little bit of research (I have way to much time) I do believe this is the miniature railway in Clevedon as when it opened in 1952 it had the same engine and rolling stock, But the Weston super mare miniature railway open in 1981 almost be 29 years later that Weston opened while Clevedon had gotten rid of its Atlantic around that time (which I’m trying to track down) (I’m sorry if you took offence)
@stevethomas8375
@stevethomas8375 5 ай бұрын
Looking at it now I agree with you. There is a hill in the background which looks much more like Clevedon. One reason I though it was Weston was that other scenes on the cine film were of the Weston donkeys on the beach and of the old pier. I think this was probably a little trip out while on holiday. Also what fooled me is that today's Clevedon is a circular loop whereas the old Weston line started out on a straight like this before doing a circular loop. ( I have got footage of Weston but it was taken in the early 2000's on video). At the time of this film I was only two so please forgive any errors. I will correct the title to Clevedon. I've been trying to archive my dad's cine footage over the last couple of years. Unfortunately he's not around anymore to help. It took me ages to identify the miniature railway at Gwrych castle but this has been confirmed as has some of Paignton zoo railway. I've got a small segment of what I think is a miniature railway at Poole but I haven't confirmed this. I hope you enjoyed doing your research and watching the film.

You have reminded me that when I was about 4yr old I was on Mare rocks with an uncle. He said don't get your shoes wet.... I remember I silpped on the seaweed and filled my shoe with water.... He asked me.... ''Did you get your shoe wet?'' I replied... '' No''... Oh, how I would like to have told the truth back then.... . But uncle knew really and I was embarrassed. I repent. 😂❤

"In all the time I've known you, only once have I seen you sober." "In all the time I've know YOU, only twice have I seen you once!" 😄 Even ad-libbing as Lord Charles when the baby starts crying. Ray Alan remains the best ventriloquist I've ever seen. He was funny, and always came across as someone who would be gentlemanly and pleasant if you met him. I love the way he aged lord Charles as he himself aged, too.
