What do you lose if you wipe off Primer? Is it the SiO2? Can you apply a tradional sealant over it. I am looking for a one step finishing polish (very light cut to remove surface things like light water spots. etc) that the prep spray never can remove and then go to non-Si02 or Si02 based product.

So you should wipe off primer! You should use it like any other polish. But if you want to fully remove it with a degreasing product like Gyeon Prep to coat shortly after you use it, then you can. You are able to apply a traditional sealant over it.

@gyeonusa
@gyeonusa 22 күн бұрын
Even though its "fake" leather, its still a porous material. So it will absorb a coating that is applied to it. Because it soaks into the leather you typically don't need to remove the excess coating like you do with paint ones. As with all of the non-paint EVO coatings... They are easier to apply and will yield 50% more durability over the previous versions!

Hi Gyeon, love the products, I just applied the coating to my vehicle! I do worry I went too light on the coating as I only used half the bottle for my entire sedan. Maybe thats normal? I also wiped 1-3min after coating each section, as told in this video and in the paper instructions. But I read on the website it says "do not wipe off". Which way is the proper way to do it? To be extra sure I used enough product, is it safe to apply another layer of the coating 24 hours later?
@gyeonusa
@gyeonusa 29 күн бұрын
Half a bottle left over is quite normal! A second layer wont yield much better results. So the wiping isn't necessary unless you see any sort of uneven coating on the surface. The "do not wipe off" is stated on the website because you aren't removing the coating, you want it to soak into the surface. Where as with paint coatings you actually wipe off the excess coating on the paint during the application process. We are just helping differentiate the two.

Few things to correct here: 1: you still pressure wash the car before washing 2: you only use 1 bucket 3: rinseless is just as good as your standard bucket wash 4: using a wash pad is not a great idea (use a rinseless sponge instead) 5: we don’t want protection in our rinseless wash.

It's weird you are aware of Yvan and diy detail yet say "you still pressure wash the car before washing". This isn't a prerequisite for anyone during rinseless wash, and it hasn't been recommended at any point in yvan's youtube videos whether he was at opimum or at diy detail. It also isn't preached by anyone who really does rinseless washes, so I'm not sure where this is coming from. I mean, you CAN do it if you want (or need, if dirt is caked on), but it isn't the standard approach. I generally agree with everything else you said, but i don't think using a wash pad is terrible, a sponge is just better.

@@darrenboston342 You prerinse for the exact same reason you prefoam with a standard wash. If you wouldn't normally prefoam, you wouldn't prerinse either, it isn't a unique need to rinseless. Why don't all detailers do this? Because of the same attitude you're showing here - not willing to try something new, and assuming it won't work. Spend time around autodetailing forums or subreddits, or just look on youtube a bit more -- there are plenty of people using rinseless washes. There are mobile detailers that use this as well. It's not like everyone doing rinseless washing is clueless and accepting paint damage. Rinseless washing isn't new, gyeon is just super late with a product.

While i love almost everything Gyeon does, the concept of rinseless and waterless just doesn’t sit right with me - in reality all demos I’ve seen on KZfaq are of very very lightly dirty, if not just a bit dusty. If you have a good paint correction and ceramic protection on it, even dusty the car looks good from afar - at that point I would much rather prefer to drive it like that rather than risking marring it with waterless. Maybe its just me, but there is something intrinsically unsatisfying about this method that I feel goes against why we love washing our cars in the first place.

Rinseless has been around way too long and is done by way too many people for you to hold this opinion in the current year. Rinseless washing isn't some hot new thing done when you have only a speck of dust on your car or something, it's something you can use as your primary wash method, and honestly probably should/could be if you maintain your car. Which you probably do if you're watching detailing videos. Soap doesn't have an advantage over rinseless. It doesn't have better lubricity, cleaning ability, or anything else compared to rinseless. It just foams (which is fun). Most benefits people attribute to traditional washes are benefits of pressure washing, not soap. It's not like all the people who rinseless wash their cars year round are lazy, unaware, or are ok with scratches.
