I like ALL of these cars. They're ALL GREAT! My favorites from this post are that Chrysler 300 Hurst Edition and that all-black Buick "Boat-Tail" Riviera. I also liked another car from this era which I didn't see here. About 30 years ago, I saw in "Cars & Parts" magazine a 1966 Chevy Caprice, owned by a family who lived in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was special-ordered from the factory with the running gear from its sibling, the Impala SS. The car appeared every bit as stately on the outside as its contemporaries from Cadillac, Lincoln, or Chrysler. But cut it loose at the dragstrip and it would peel off a low-14 quarter-mile with a trap speed of 100mph. Suffice to say THIS particular Caprice was the automotive equivalent of Muhammad Ali: big, pretty, and FAST!

Any car you had that had a big V8 and dual exhaust and a 4-barrel I don't care what kind it was if you're talking to 1960s it had more power than most of the cars and when you get into the early 1970s you had a 454 and a 429 and you had 440 you could pick a number and pick your car and most of them are all fun to drive and they were all fast they did not disappoint you like they do now

Why is it that people decide to make a video like this "worst of" disaster without any knowledge of the subject? The Crosley V8? Obviously there was no effort to edit the story lines and the photos are not of original models, what a huge waste of time.

First: you said Packard “attempted to merge with Studebaker but the deal fell through “. WRONG, on this point. They DID in fact ,Merge, creating the “STUDEBAKER-PACKARD CO.” Also you mentioned “quality issues “ -RUST, well it is true that some manufacturers used thinner steel, but except for Aluminum and Fiberglass bodied cars, THEY ALL RUSTED, as Rustproofing wasn’t really much of a thing yet. ZEBART was just coming on the market as a Dealer Extra. Very few cars had any real sort of Rustproofing, except some high-end cars. Also, as others mentioned, Edsel had 3 model years - not just 1, and nothing was mentioned about the fact that that it launched the year of a Recession, and all car companies took a hit [ except Rambler]. The Willys Aero was made from 1952-1955. Production ended in 1955 IN THE U.S., but was built in Brazil until 1971. The reason the Aero actually ended production, Henry J. Kaiser bought Willys, and he decided to replace it with the Henry J.. Willys Aero was not “like “ a compact, it WAS a Compact. The Crosley “V-8” was only A [ single] Prototype that never went into production. Crosley made Radios and other electronics. Powell Crosley made cars from 1939-1952.[ except for War Production]. And I don’t know anyone who would call the old Ramblers “ boxy”. The Rambler, would eventually be rebadged as the Rambler American, and was extremely successful, especially in 1958-1959, as there was a Recession in 1958, and only Rambler actually made money. In 1959, Studebaker released their “LARK” and made as many as they possibly could crank out, actually making a Profit, and saving the company from bankruptcy. [ for the moment]. While the demand for smaller cars was not huge, they did, as another commenter said, sold as second cars for families already having one car, and people on a budget, as they were low cost, and they were brilliantly marketed by George Romney. ((* Hudson also had a Compact car called the “JET”. And cannot forget one Successful tiny car company that made a “Micro-car” from 1946-1970: the KING MIGET.)) So, OUTSIDE OF SOME misinformation, this was a fun little video. 🚗😁👍👍‼️

I owned a Metropolitan. It wasn't a bad car. It was sold as a family's second car, the car you drove to the station or your wife drove to the market. You had a Buick or Mercury or similar if you wanted to actually go someplace. Mine got 40 MPG during the gas crisis of the early 70s. Not a bad thing. Unlike the VW Beetle, it had a heater that would actually keep you warm in the winter. Didn't handle well, it wasn't designed as a sports car. it was what it was.

That is something overlooked by Critics. It was what it was. It never pretended to be anything more than just that. A second car, usually, for smaller errands, and hopping around town. 🚗🙂

Many years ago I thought the Metropolitan was a cool little car and I went to drive one that someone was selling for $1500. It was terrible. Sometime later I went and drove one someone was selling for $6000. I thought it must be better for $6000, right? It was terrible. Now, fifty years later, I'd probably buy one anyhow. They're still cool little cars.

I always wanted a Dream Car i/e the 1965 AC Shelby Cobra 427 S/C - I saw one for $6500 used in 1967, too much money for a 17 Yō young man nearing draft age. Now worth well over a Million+ and really more than I have for something I could only drive for a couple of months a year where Iive. I may be able to afford the insurance cost now, Heh heh. I did get to drive a Superformance Replicar in Redrock's Nevada and found it would have fit me as a teen but my feet where to big at fifty years old. I found out my dad was likely right in not co-signing for a loan. He said, "I'll end up paying the loan off and for your damned funeral". The Replicar proved that to me, it had a 351 that was detuned to 325hp to save time in the body shop and rental profits. If it had 480hp even with the extra 500lbs of fiberglass it would have been a monster that would have killed a fearless or brainless17 Yō. Thanks Dad! It was a still a dream ride except for the wife asking me to turn the noise down. I told her it had no radio or AC for that matter. Just a place to hold on! I traded my pickup and bought a 2000 Lincoln LS that year. She was happy with the LS and the volume control and AC. Now nearly 25 years later she and the LS are gone. I miss the LS sometimes, but my pickup has AC too. You do see what I'm still dreaming about today, Heh heh.... I love that AC's color too, maybe I'll get the pickup painted even though I'd fit better now without the home cooking! I guess some of us never grow up damn, even the wife was right sometimes, :).

I still love and own The Unapproachable 750 Norton Commando. Like me, it's an antique. I can still kick it. * I do live on a hill just in case and it still shifts on the right. One down and three up!
