I just don't understand why bret couldn't just lose to taker in Canada or the next night on raw. They were already fueding in 1997... in all honesty it should have been bret hart to crown steve austin, not shawn. Steve doesnt like the w14 match at all, build up was cool with tyson but it just felt like a stop gap match till stone cold had the belt and the vince fued began. If they only kept his contract to wrestlemania 14, the heel with the belt loosing to Austin in a fair match, stunner on hart, blow the roof off with another classic and being the first fired wrestler by Vince, going to WCW, still creating the vince character and heat.

Man, I love Stevie. He’s done so much for wrestling, women too, and is criminally underrated. He’s also so well-spoken, I could probably listen to him read from an outdated phone book and be entertained. I love the subverting of the stereotypical valet roles too, great idea!

I wish there was a booking team of Jerry Lawler, Paul Heyman, Raven, and Kevin Sullivan. Bring real heat back 🔥. Build monster heels, chicken shit heels, etc. Personal issues draw money! Money 💵, championships, beautiful women, revenge. Make it have the realism of late 80s NWA, 80s Memphis, ECW, etc.

Stevie might honestly think that he did Victoria a great service with this, but it still didn’t move him up the card. He ultimately worked himself by trying to justify this.

i think you missed the point man..he didnt do it for himself, and while it didnt move him up the card, it did give him career longevity..how many ECW guys had lasting careers in wwe? or led their own faction? It's a bit like the whole thing where a DDT became just another move done by almost everyone up and down the card for a two count or a double down. But if Jake Roberts or Raven happened to be on that same card then theirs would stand out because when they hit it, that ended the match. Although in most cases, if Jake or Raven were on the card then nobody did it out of respect to the veteran.

When I saw him setting up for the dive I said out loud, "Adam, you;re a 50 year old man. You should definitely not be doing this." And then he crashed and burned and then still FINISHED the match on one leg like a boss. What a pro. You could see how much Gangrel was supporting him as they went up the ramp afterwards. I didn't realize until Stevie said it that the dive spot was even dumber in light of the Gangrel surprise that was about to happen (and which I popped for so hard). When you're a major attraction and (ahem) no longer a young lion you have to plan your bumps more carefully and more strategically. Putting yourself on the shelf for goodness knows how long chasing a cheap pop just hurts everybody.
