To VILAYATU: Well let's see now - - my guess is that this was your first exposure to this piece, and you're kind of impressed with the rapidity of the pianist's hands moving all over the keys. You might find it eye-opening to seek out (if you're interested) ANY other performance of this "precipitato", in which case you'll have a chance to hear how it should go, because any similarity between what Khatia does here, and what Prokofiev had in mind, is purely coincidental.

Glenn Gould's rendition at maybe half this tempo is far more exciting and has ten times the clarity and musical direction. Martha Argerich's performances at nearly this tempo are as musical as Gould's although they bring out different strengths in the piece.

Это так скучно. Не слышу никакой мелодии, никакой музыки. Сожалею. Говорила композитору об этом лично. Что мне хватает эмоций. Встречались в Брюсселе. 20 лет назад. Ничего не изменилось. Это не музыка. Просто звуки.

На вкус и на цвет... Музыка это и есть просто звуки. Технически, вы не справедливы. Да, это вам не песня, мелодии включены фрагментарно, они есть. Как я вижу, весь эмоциональный эффект его музыки от контрастов громкого и тихого, спадов и нарастаний, смены декламации на мелодию и обратно.
