I grew up listening to mom's country music, I consider 'Hello Darlin'" A CLOSE 2ND to the greatest country music song of all time "He Stopped Loing Her Today". Mama LOVED Conway...I was playing outside and mom laying out in the sun w/the radio on and I saw she was crying...I asked her what was wrong, and she said "Conway just died, they're playing all his songs". Mom's gone now too, and here I am crying thinking of her...listening to Conway.

Hello Darlin' Nice to see you It's been a long time You're just as lovely As you used to be How's your new love Are you happy Hope your doin' fine Just to know it Means so much to me What's that Darlin' How am I doin' Guess I'm doin' alright Except I cant sleep And I cry all night 'til dawn What I'm trying to say is I love you and I miss you And I'm so sorry That I did you wrong Look up Darlin' Let me kiss you Just for old time sake Let me hold you In my arms one more time Thank you Darlin' May God bless you And may each step you take Bring you closer To the things you seem to find Goodbye Darlin' Gotta go now Gotta try to find a way To lose these memories Of a love so warm and true And if you should ever find it In your heart to forgive me Come back Darlin' I'll be waitin' for you Goodbye Darlin'...

You can't improve on the past, but I just think...how would it have been if Gene had been the vocal frontman for The Byrds, and the band letting him rock with his incredible songs. And if David had stayed relatively clean and sober for all those lost years...and they could have sung together! Two very different voices, but gol durn. Just let me imagine a little bit longer.

Every time I hear this song and Croz singing it, it just knocks me out. It's ethereal, mysterious, moody, gorgeous with its chord changes, and with this version, flashes of Crosby's glorious voice is so good. It's probably his first really good song. On the studio (album) version, Chris Hillman does a bass guitar solo the length of the song. McGuinn's guitar solo is one of the best things he has ever done -- so appropriate for the song.

I will always believe they were in love. The never acted on it out of respect for their spouses. They sang many sings about forbidden love and then later years were singing songs like True Love, I can't help it if I'm still in love with you, and Making Believe. Their songs told their love story. .

I’ve watched this over and over and he still reminds me of young me 14 years ago with my Papa enjoying it with me. He was old and didn’t understand new technology much but he was overjoyed to know we could watch these kinds of videos over and over again! Damn, I wish I was 18 again!!!!
