I was literally looking at the 2025 Madone SL 7 Gen 8 and trying to find reviews and you came up. I like this bike. My first road bike was a Trek. I had no problems with it. I now want to upgrade. I'm listening and watching to find out where the battery sits to see if this bike is easy to travel abroad with.

I really want the new Madone, though I don't know if it would be "overkill" for me. Right now I have a Checkpoint SL 5 with road tires on it and it seems to be doing well for me. Not sure if a casual rider like me would benefit from the Madone at all.

The components on the Rail 5 are not great. It’s worth spending the extra $ on the 7, especially since they are now heavily discounted at most dealers.

Great bike. Sq labs seat, and some teravail honcho tires make this thing is awesome.
