ok for city use in Canadian winters. But where I live west of Edmonton about 100 klicks, my neighbour gets high centered whn roads are not plowed in his fiat. Just saying for anyone considering this car that you must be realistic in expectations.

You definitely need snow tires... with snow tires the 500 is pretty good in the snow. Light weight and front wheel drive plus the traction control system helps.... but snow tires are a must, the OEM rubber is no good.

Thanks for this! I'm considering a Fiat 500 Popup 2 door and where I'm at in Arkansas, we get ice and snow so I was doing my research before I decided. Looks like it'll be fine. :-)

i just bought a brand new 2014 promaster 1500 short wheel base low roof v6. i was in love for 3 days. i thought i was getting a great deal. then my insurance came and i started driving... after 77 miles.... i watched the gas gauge drop at a visible rate. the trip computer is telling me i'm getting 7 miles per gallon. granted it's been in city, in a hilly area, but... i think i've been fucked. to top it off i was planning an rv conversion and captain's chairs/swivel seats were central to my plan. but now it turns out they're "not available"... i think i've been fucked. ...can't drive in it, can't live in it. i afraid i've been fatally fucked. since it's got plenty of excess power i'm wondering if anyone can tell me if a more conservative carburetor is a possibility? or a source for a swivel seat ? adapter to the stock seats? (or seats that will adapt to the slanted cab floor? or accommodate the emergency brake in the seat housing?) save my life w/ some helpful news!

Thanks for the video! I live in Ontario, so winter driving can be just as bad... I had a vw golf for so long, and It was a gem in the snow... Now I have a honda accord, and I hate driving it in the snow... Is it the size that makes them good in the snow? Might have to test drive one of these little guys out..

My car is smaller than 500 (Hyundai Atos) . And yeah , it is FWD . But , where I live 2 winter tyres for it cost $80 . I use it for two seasons on front wheels , and then I put them to the back (as they have more than 4mm) , and in the front I put new ones . I NEWER GOT STUCK , and I live up steep hill . Old winter tyres (>1.6mm) I use in summer as rear , and I have 2 summers in front . Handling is good and I feel safe . 4x4 is for sisies .
