Truly inspirational, congratulations. I’ve just achieved my own dream and swam Lake Windermere. I can really resonate with a lot of the thought processes you mention. For me overcoming self doubt was in the end the biggest challenge. Absolutely love your story 👏👏👏👏👏

Thank you for the kind words and congratulations to you too, windermere is a big challenge! Exactly this. Self belief is a huge part of taking on any massive challenge, especially anything endurance based. It does take time to develop through small wins, but the more you persist and overcome them, the more you realise what your capable of and with that you can set bigger goals. It's a tough but rewarding process. Welldone again.

Could you tell me more about the 6 hour qualifying swim? Where did you do that, who was observing that, how did you arrange that exactly?

Get in touch with sam jones - swimcamp cornwall. Couldnt recommend them enough. A wealth of experience having swam the channel twice herself. Worked as an observer and crewed on the boat SUVA for some time. She's been involved in channel swimming for over 20 years. The swim camp they have is based on the coast around Plymouth and it's about 5 days of sea swimming everyday building upto do your qualifier her and her team observe. Hope this helps.

Wow i am blown away, the mindset of a determined winner. I also wondered how different the mindset might have been had you started in France and swam home to England, something tells me that swimming home might be mentally less taxing on the determination? knowing your home and loved ones are waiting there? i found this to be an interesting hypothetical into the human psyche. Would love to hear your take on this as someone who has actually swam there, done it, and bought the beret.

Thanks for the kind words. Honestly, I'm not sure it would make a huge difference. Im sure it would be nice arriving to friends and family but ultimately the greatest reward is completing what you set out to do which is just getting from one side to another. If anything, arriving in a foreign country helps concrete what you have done. That's my personal opinion. Others who have done it may think otherwise. Thanks
