Hi, it’s called Crotales. I love the sound, so glad you pointed it out.
Just gorgeous, as always Is this the Becker Cello?
@Inbalsegevcello10 күн бұрын
Thank you, I recorded this with my Rugieri. The film was made later with another cello, American maker Laurence Wilke.
@Inbalsegevcello10 күн бұрын
Actually, it may have been the Becker (for the film, not audio) you are right.

I love to do this on guitar and think cello whilst doing it. May not be right but sounds good to me. I learned something new today and want to try the last 4 bars somehow to replicate a similar feel to your last 4 bars on the cello. Thank you.

Dear Inbal, it seems that you’re playing a Montagnana cello on the 5th! I hope to be getting one soon, thus my curiosity about it! Earlier videos seem to have you playing a Stradivarius cello!

I know that probably noone will read this or even care, but as a historically informed baroque cellist I want to make some stuff clear: This string setup has NEVER existed for multiple reasons: 1. There was no period of time, in which it was practice to have four wound gut strings. Historically you would have a mixture of wound and plain sheep(!) gut strings, with initially only the lowest one being wound. Only during the first half of the 18th century, the second lowest string was occasionally wound, but it didn't become the standard until the second half of the century. Apart from that, the top two strings were NEVER wound! They used to be blanc gut strings up until the 20th century, when very slowly metal strings were invented. (Note, that due to the two WW development came to a halt, so that a gut setup was not uncommon until the 50s and sometimes even later) 2. Apart from everything I just mentioned, the supposed "gut strings" are Pirastro Olive which (apart from being unhistorical in itself) has the top two strings wound in Aluminum, a Metal which wasn't even successfully crafted until 1809, and even then only for the fraction of a second. And even after it was successfully produced, there are no indications whatsoever, that Aluminum was ever used for string production in any way. So I don't think that I have to explain that playing Bach on strings like that has nothing to do with being historical or anything. So of course, if you don't care about being historical, then please be my guest. But don't go round telling people that this is how a baroque setting looks like, because that is SEVERE misinformation in almost every possible way!

Hi Judith, I do care about what you and others think about my channel, and I absolutely agree- this is not a complete or perfect Baroque set-up by any means. I also play with an end-pin, and on a modern cello with a modern bridge etc.etc. The first thing I said was that I am experimenting with a “more Baroque set-up..” the bow is also modern. But it is, never-the-less, a baroque bow. There are advantages to playing on wound gut strings, especially for someone like myself, who is not a Baroque player. My audience knows that I mostly play new music and they also should understand that this is my way of getting more familiar with Baroque playing, and by no means, THE way of playing Baroque. On an aside, do you agree that everything is a compromise to a degree? compared to 350 years ago, the concert halls are way too big, the audiences are way to impatient. so the question is - do we even try? I do admire musicians who dedicate their musical life to the Baroque era, and enjoy listening to them. Thanks for watching, Inbal

I'm sure there is an error in the original notes at 1.29 in bar 40. There shouldn't be a sharp there. I can explain why.
