wow this is amazing , only ever see clips where they make him the ass, here we get other side of story.,...its too bad roy style is annoying, telling him things he did instead of asking about it ... but yeah when he said what he did about pat on senior night, he knew that was about as big confirmation of his love and being proud of him to do so on the biggest stage ..

I worked as a lighting person on these interviews (hidden behind the black screen in the interview room) --lit primarily with a "china ball" paper lantern light. Of interest is one of the camera persons was Albert Maysles who co-directed the documentary "Gimme Shelter" the 1970 film about the Rolling Stones Altamont concert. He used his original 16mm Aaton camera (shooting black and white film) which had these clever modifications including a dental mirror and number markings painted backwards so they could be read in the mirror, and a light meter mounted onto the camera. Thanks for posting!

The mid/late 80's was an awesome time for B10 hoops. These teams were absolute forces. Funny, I see the other comment about the Mn situation. I happen to be a Gopher fan here in Mpls. That scandal basically blew up the program which led to the resignation of Jim Dutcher the head coach. They were a mediocre B10 program program that went to disaster mode. They eventually had a 7 man (after adding a football player to the roster just for an extra body) roster. Known as the Iron Five. Miraculously that group somehow beat Iowa, who was actually pretty good at the time.

too bad iu's coach by this point only wanted to golf, because that game winner was hit by a guy who would have been in the cream and crimson if bobby knight had bothered to even SPEAK WITH HIM 1 TIME, and this is no joke, just ask dan dakich...one player who wasn't on this kansas team yet and could have made a big difference in those mediocre post graham's, cheaney, nover, leary, reynolds, bailey, anderson, henderson teams was raef lafrentz, who also had a strong urge to be a hoosier but dan couldn't get bobby off the fishing pole or the golf course to actually recruit these kids...love bobby knight, and didn't realize how much of a GOOD thing i had when i could actually root for a team, program and school (that i am a 95 alum of) that was at least competitive and a factor in the college basketball world....now i'm stuck with a team, program and school that can field a roster that had more depth(not great shooters though) and talent than almost every bob knight coached team, THAT CAN'T BEAT NORTHWESTERN;)!? can you imagine this year's roster being coached by even a half involved bob knight, don't you think he would have at least found away to utilize all that length and depth and through the motion offense, get designed shots for players like anthony leal(who i know most iu fans think of as a glorified walk-on but if steve alford(NOW PLEASE DON'T THINK THAT I'M NOT INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN A ALFORD AND A LEAL, in almost every way you can think on how to be the best that you can with what you got, but i'm just saying that on a national level up until leal got to iu, he was a player in any aau or even traditional style setting would look like he belonged on the floor, not a 4 year glorified towel waiver that iu has helped develop him into) had social media and the recruiting platforms, would have probably been a solid 3 star, borderline 4-JUST LIKE ANTHONY LEAL who was anywhere from the 125 to 155 best player in the country and averaged out 25th best 2 guard in the country, or how about a cj gunn who was a top 150 player and averaged out 20/25th best 2 guard, not to mention mgbako(i'm thinking at least 2/3rds the production of a freshman/sophomore cheaney, or maybe even a VERY WATERED DOWN JAY EDWARDS on the OFFENSIVE END(as he is another player who is completely lost when it comes to the defensive end of the floor), galloway(is a steve eyl with the ability to elevate his game in every way that eyl couldn't-but was soooo good at being a ball player and even with that extra talent, his individual and team career will fall far short of what steve eyl was able to accomplish) or cupps(if todd leary could be a serviceable 1, or tommy c(coverdale-one of my favorite hoosiers of all time and a bonafide team carrier at times), shoot even a joe hillman(actually blocked his shot 1 time at the hyper, now he did outscore me 17 to 1 in 3 games, who was a national champion and after that team, went on to win a big10 title, with a team that was picked to finish like 2nd or 3rd to last)!!!!all of these players, even by today's standards and the different way in which the game is played(would have been forced to be better defenders, or at least been able to communicate to where they weren't at least a liability), now pair that with 2 borderline studs down low, not too mention the depth with a sparks, walker, banks and these were the kind of front court bodies(both in size and length) that i as an iu fan would have killed for, but my post graduation years had robbie eggers, richard mandeville, chris lawson, todd lindeman, haris mujezinovic, larry richardson, tom geyer, george leach, lynn washington and YET STILL SOMEHOW THOSE TEAMS WERE ABLE TO MAKE THE TOURNAMENT??? wrote all this and not a single person will read, not that they should but it was therapeutic for me and THANK GOD for GALEN CLAVIO because i have all or most of these games still on VHS tapes, but no longer a hooked up VCR, wish i could remember the mid 90's game where steve hart had a break away dunk and i swear his shoe came off or something and not only did he not even get a open floor dunk, he slipped and was called for traveling;););) APPRECIATE YOU MR. CLAVIO and for providing these classic platform games which are a remembrance that IU BASKETBALL USED TO BE SOMETHING THAT WAS ABOVE SPECIAL, now anybody who has read this far, PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP on "YOUR INDIANA HOOSIERS", i'm far from special, but i haven't and maybe MR. CLAVIO will have another 20 years of iu basketball game's that were similar to the classic 81(top heavy dominant in the front and back court, arguably more talented than the deeper 75/76 teams, who were just a little b4 my time as i was only 2 or 3) or that 86/87 run, or the 88/89 team(BIG 10 CHAMPS and won 22 of 23 games during the middle season, only loss at #1 ranked illinois and national runner-up to michigan who iu beat twice), or by far the best that unfortunately doesn't have a national banner to their name but if you want to see a well oiled machine, start watching the indiana hoosier games from the early 90's, which i would argue based on the comp was the BEST OF THE BUNCH, and one of my favorite squads the 2001/2002 team who when they lost in the final game, i wasn't even disappointed?!! WITH THAT SAID GO BOILERS THIS WEEKEND, and i really mean that, as i'm not a hater, like most boiler and hoosier fans

The "heavy heart" for Loyola Marymount was for Hank Gathers who played power forward for Loyola Marymount, the team was absolutely incredible with Gathers on the team and it was a terrible loss and a tragedy that he passed so soon. They almost certainly would have made a deep run if not for this untimely loss.
