Just launch the damned thing. 90% fluff, 10% flight.

Model rocketry has come so far since my days with Estes kits in the 60's. A special fireworks license was required and we could only shoot rockets on an unused part of the artillery range at Ft. Lewis Washington.

Friggin' awesome!

This is so much cheaper than launching the larger space shuttles. NASA take note...

That's really neat. Unfortunately I live right next to a AFB and there is nowhere you can shoot rockets... :(

My rocketry period was back in the 70's. I know how I felt launching my multi-month build of the Saturn V. GREAT job with the production and rocket! Neat Pete!

I have the original version. Plastic orbiter, not styrofoam, and wooden guide fins.

The level of acceleration of that Space Shuttle would kill everyone onboard instantly. NASA wants to offer you a 45 billion dollar contract to develop the next SLS rocket after seeing this video.

Very nice launch and flight! Love your launch platform. 😄 I've built this kit twice - once when it first came out in the '70s/early '80s, and a later reissue, which is now a shelf queen. Looks like they've updated it since then to include a foam body for the Orbiter. Mine were both vacu-form, and it was a pain in the butt. This looks much easier to deal with!

At T-60 seconds there will be a 1 minute hold in the count to replace launch controller batteries and reattach an igniter clip. Range Safety has cleared a curious dog from the launch complex and has given a GO for launch. Recovery crews are standing by to recover the booster should its parachute meet a rocket eating tree. This is Shuttle Launch Control.

Could it be possible to put a small servo in it to controll the landing?

My 1st Saturn V was the Estes 1:232 (?) scale kit which flew on A,B, or C motors. I still have the rocket though the plastic glue on fins are gone. But, I modified the model to take the plastic fins that came with the Titan II model rocket I still fly her

They'd probably get a buzz off it, Alex for sure was a RC flyer to break the monotony of touring.

I still have the 1:232 scale Estes shuttle, from the late 70s. It's a shelf queen now, because the plastic used has grown frail and brittle. This video convinced me to get this new version.
@KevinBalch-dt8otАй бұрын
I had the Centuri Space Shuttle which was based on an early shuttle concepts which had a flyback booster. Both booster and orbiter flew really well. I spent a lot of time trimming and balancing them.
