This must be the 2017 revision of this work rather than the original version from 2015.

Just heard this on our classical station in Columbus, Ohio (WOSU). Really interesting change from the big, orchestral music normally associated with classical. One of the things I noticed, as someone not raised or very knowledge of classical music beyond the big pieces/composers, is that I can hear bits and pieces that translate to other modern genres. At about the 5:50 mark, the mandolin (I think) plays notes not dissimilar to progression Trent Reznor would write for Nine Inch Nails, an industrial/electronic band that incorporates organic instruments. Other parts reminded me of the soundtrack work Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead has done for Paul Thomas Anderson on films like There Will Be Blood, or Junkie XL on Mad Max: Fury Road and Furiosa. I guess if you need all your music in straightforward 4/4, verse/chorus/verse doses, this is too far outside the box, but I found it really interesting.

When were hockets outlawed or banned, (mentioned at around 4:25 in the video) I could find no references for this. - Thank you in advance for your reply.

The coolest image I've even seen of Mr. Riley. And love the harpsichord soloing, a keyboard he didn't often use after "A Rainbow..."

I used to work at Merrill Lynch and had lunch under those palm trees every day. Saw many concerts in there like Robert Fripp, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Pauline Oliveros, etc. Knew Glenn back in the days of Static and T_Girls. His 100 guitar piece Hallucination City outside on the plaza is the best thing he ever did.

Kudos to the drummer for his stamina. Also, for the guitarists for keeping up with the rapid strumming. As a composition, well, there's a bit too much repetition for my tastes. The constant 4/4 meter with little contrast in dynamics or color became a little boring. Perhaps, if I had been as drunk as the conductor it would have been more interesting.

This is a very valuable observation on a composer and artist who are sadly - largely overlooked now - 2 years later in 2024 - or so it seems. How long will it take relevant media to regard and record 2020 as the "Dark Age" of the the 21st Century ? Perhaps the first of what may be , unfortunately the first of a series of Dark Ages many, where the world loses its humanity of connection. You Tube shows so many videos of artists and audiences in masks from this time . Happily that is not in evidence here. We should treasure it. Perhaps our future generations will. For now, thank you Cleveland.

This guy, PG, is seriously exploring the deep sadness and inevitability of existence, yet also the ineffable beauty in life. This superb interpretation brings all these amazing qualities to the fore. Performed with such respect and sensitivity. As a feature film composer, I expect to hear this track in future temped to films I will be working on…. 🤩Perfect film music - deep, transcendentally emotional, sonically rich… Very very moving!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
