I remembered when I learned that a helicopter couldn't go mach speed. Dad told me the blades would fall off going that fast. I felt a sadness because until then I thought Airwolf was the greatest military weapon. Ha Ha. I would even go to school fighting which was better, Blue Thunder or Airworlf.

Will, what you were calling the "officers' rear lounge is actually the cargo shuttle bay. The huge ventral opening is the bay for the personnel shuttles.
@theensignschair2 күн бұрын
I'm going by the schematic that appears at the rear of the bridge in Generations. According to that schematic that rear section contains the "aft crew lounge". There is no label for that lower opening on the schematic I'm using, but I've also seen that labeled as a probe launch bay.

I went to school at Mora Middle during the filming of Red Dawn. The classroom they shoot up in the beginning wad a temporary building they built at the northwest corner. It was not part of the actually school. Had a paratrooper fall from a tree in front of me. His foam gun broke in half. Half dozen other paratroopers landed on top of the gym by mistake.

Highly recommended Form Air epoxy dough to fill those large gaps. Cleans with water, does not shrink, considered an adhesive as well. Sands like a dream. Saved my bacon on my Excelsior.

One issue I'm seeing with this kit is that the blue areas on the top of the B-deck look raised and they should just be scribed lines. I'd think about scribing the lines in and sanding the panels done especially for the Enterprise-B whose upper paint doesn't match the raised areas like the Excelsior dose. Those windows by the impulse engine should be moved over as you know but the rest of them are the same as Excelsior so you shouldn't have to move the rest. I've heard Bill George has the old Excelsior parts.
@theensignschair5 күн бұрын
I'd agree on top of the B Deck does appear smooth with no raised panels in most photos, but there are a few where it's questionable. Most of the painting on top does utilize where the raised panel lines would be. As far a scribing, I see a single scribe line over the center front window forward of the bridge. Unfortunately in order for the windows to be equal distance from the RCS thrusters, as they should be, all the windows on the rim would have to be moved.
@James-rn7dx5 күн бұрын
@@theensignschair I had to go back and look at the studio model pictures but you are correct, they are spaced evenly from the RCS thrusters on both sides. I'm thinking of my AMT kit, and I placed that back set evenly between the RCS thruster and the impulse engine. Now that I look again, I'm thinking that AMT kit has more things wrong with it then I thought, like grid line location which effects everything else. I knew the old Excelsior model was wrong but thought they fixed that on the E-B.

It wasn't unusual for the windows to not mirror each other on the models back then. The refit also had two more oval windows on the port side right under the pylons and then ILM removed more windows on the starboard side of the secondary hull when they changed the model into the Enterprise-A. Good catch though, I never spotted those missing windows on the Reliant.

Great video Bro. Just remember...when you go to 3-D print those other Shuttle Bay doors make sure you give the top and bottom a slight curve, the Shuttle Bay wall has a curve when you attach it to the rear of the hull plus I wouldn't glue those in until after the rear hull is glued in place and cures so it's not a stress on the Shuttle Bay doors and they will glue in perfactly...just test fit before glueing them in. now with the corner P.E. vent parts I took sharp sciccors and cut them at the sides and mounted those flush like one would do for the Officers Lounge window, it will sit flush with very minimal filling and sanding, you can enlarge the opening to get as cannon as you like...Just trying to help buddy. thanks for poating and sharing, greatly appreciated.
@theensignschair12 күн бұрын
These shuttlebay replacements do have a slight curve, but since I intended them to be glued and sanded flush it doesn't matter. However if someone chose to glue them inside the opening, the curve is there. As for the photoetch, I basically embeded the photoetch into the plastic using my soldering iron, just another option.

What you mean it was filmed in Mexico??? Just kidding. I was a 7th grader in Las Vegas New Mexico at the middle school where the paratroopers drooped at calumet HS (Wolverines)…..we were in the baseball field in case of a misdrop because the school had a bunch of skylights. If I remember correctly the shot up classroom was actually built on because that built on building the op is pointing out wasn’t there.
