Streaking could be due to the brush. It's probably a good quelity brush, but in my experience if there is streaking you don't want, you might want to use a brush that packs more liquid. Also it could be due to the ground layer. Maybe the nail cleaning product (alcohol I believe you use) could have some not-yet-evaporated residue that needs a bit more time to evaporate. Or the solvent from your previously cured layer messes with the new liquid. Because it hardens in uv light, the solvent separates from the polymers and floats to the top. I have the streaking too with a specific gel color (The Gelbottle in Royal Navy) and it demands that the previous solvent be cleaned off after curing and the alcohol to be evaporated completely. Hope this helps. If not, it could also be a quality feature or some property unknown yet. (I look at my gel nail hobby through my physicist lens ;))

@pinkpineapplenails10 күн бұрын
Yes for the blue I used a dark blue gel from the MPA pallet.
@jioslegoworld356613 күн бұрын
In case you don’t have matte top coat you can use regular top coat and buff the shine off, wipe, and do whatever design you’re doing. Then you cure, and apply the chrome powder and dust off the excess and it shouldn’t stick to the rest of the nail because chrome tends to stick to anything that’s shiny. After that you apply top coat.

Oh dear, as a licensed nail tech, you need to take a break from gels, acrylics, etc… and any chemicals on them. They are too damaged and too thin.

I was told to use a 180 buffer for etching, will that not suffice?
@pinkpineapplenails10 күн бұрын
You def can, but from what I’ve noticed that when using a buffer at 180 grit it smooths the nail too much. Which can create lifting. But if it works for you, def continue to use it. I’m just sharing if lifting is an issue then this might be another reason to change up your prep. 😊😊

Why do you seal the chrome with primer? Just wondering. Does it help? What does it do?
@pinkpineapplenailsАй бұрын
I seal the chrome with primer so that it doesn't chip. A lot time if you just seal it with a top coat the chrome starts to fade out. Primer just helps stop that so your chrome can last.

If I use chrome powder, I do the no wipe matte top coat and then I just wipe it with alcohol. Then I go in and do whatever design for the chrome powder, like normal and it looks perfect. I used to apply base/foundation gel on the chrome powder before topcoat, but now I use Reinforce Gel or strengthener. But wiping the no wipe matte, with alcohol, has always worked just fine and there's not much, if any fallout. A very small amount of chrome powder goes a long way. That's they way I've been doing it for over a year now.

I thought the point of japanese gels were that you don’t have to do all the prep typical of other gel products?
@pinkpineapplenailsАй бұрын
Japanese gels is an Easy Soak off system, meaning that they don't use Primer to adhere their gels making it a easy soak off system. If you don't prep your nails when it comes to Gels, your gels will be lifting in two days. All gels needs a prep system, whether it Korean, Japanese, or American.

No, this is how you damage your natural nails😭
@pinkpineapplenailsАй бұрын
Yes you can damage your nails if you don't know how to use an efile. Hence the reason why I showed 2 ways you can etch your nails. Not etching your nails and using a smooth buffer to buff your nails will lead to your gels lifting. 🤷♀️ How do you prep your nails for gels? 😉

Do you use the Leafgel Cuticle Remove as a prep step before. Gel application? I’m so intrigued by this product but not sure if it will affect gel longevity
@pinkpineapplenailsАй бұрын
Leafgel Cuticle Remover is really good, it softens the cuticle really fast. But I won't repurchase this product because for the price of the little bottle your better off with BlueCross cuticle remover. I do recommend that if you use any type of cuticle remover-that you make sure to clean your nails with alcohol before applying any gels.
@user-fr5sq6jx7zАй бұрын
Thank You! I also currently uses the blue cross. I recently learned of Kokoist and Japanese builder gel and not sure should I use the cuticle remover during the cuticle clean part (after the dry manicure prep part).

So I’ve been having issues after applying the chrome and dusting off the excess, I then cure the chrome under the light. After curing it looks beautiful. BUT when I apply the top glossy coat the chrome particles get on the non chrome area and creates this shimmer effect :( how can I fix this???
@pinkpineapplenails2 ай бұрын
Have you tried putting base coat first before top coat? I've notice that if you go straight into top coat with chrome it will shimmer.
@kyleigh2252 ай бұрын
Tip! You may or may not know this, but sharing just in case, with gel cat eye polishes you don’t need to go through the hassle of wiping it off or removing the polish, you can take a brush and run back over it and it will look like you did when you first applied 😊

Do you have any recommendations for an overlay for someone whose nails always separate with gels? Doesn't matter the prep - her nails always do this. Sometimes it'll happen within days and sometimes a week later. Ive been researching japanese and korean brands but not sure what will work best.
@pinkpineapplenails2 ай бұрын
If her nails are separating, have you tried a rubber base before putting other gel products on? Looks like she might need more flexibility on her nails and a rubber base might help. Let me know if you tried this and if it works. If not, we can see what is going on. I had clients like this before but with these types- its all about trial and error with products on them.

Hey when you use the top gel- how long do you cure and when do you wipe off the sticky layer?
@pinkpineapplenails2 ай бұрын
I usually cure my top for 30 sec and wipe off right away after coming out of the lamp. If you have an older lamp or a lamp that isn't as strong I recommend at least 60 secs.

Why everytime i brush my chrome powder it comes off? (Chipped )
@pinkpineapplenails2 ай бұрын
If your chrome is coming off after you cured and not sticking on then you may have over cured the gel. If it is chipping after you have seal the chrome then I recommend using the tiniest amount of primer on top of your chrome. This helps prevent the chrome from not chipping after you top coat the chrome.

@@pinkpineapplenailsas a nail tech that does a lot of hand painted custom artwork, I’d be VERY VERY interested to see a comparison between Japanese & Korean gels. From what I understand, Japanese nail art involves a lot of hand painting which explains the highly pigmented formula. I have to ask, I use gel brands known for the best pigment, one coat gels, to do my artwork, if I don’t have a gel paint for what I’m doing. Would you compare the Japanese gel to a one coat gel here or to a gel paint? It appears to be much thinner than a normal gel and paint. Thanks!
