It is called the "DD Hammocks Underblanket." Synthetic fill. Packs down small, but is much colder than stated by the company. After a lot of use, I would not use it below 7 degrees Celsius.

A tip is to get a skillet with one of those grippy thongs they are kind of handy and still easy to pack if you don't want a solid handle. Thanks for a great video!
@LeviGAdventure
@LeviGAdventure 10 күн бұрын
I have seen skillets like that. I guess those are way better, but I know for sure I would lose the handle on my very first camp with it 🙈 I do have the Summit Skillet (from JetBoil) that have a handle that folds the other way around. That makes way more sense. But that skillet is a lot bigger, so more to pack with me... But thank you SO much for your comment. I always love getting recommendations in the comment. I have a lot to learn!

Hammock camping in the beginning can include a lot of fiddling about before you can get a good "hang." I recommend testing it out first before you go deep into the woods, especially if you have a cheap hammock with no structural ridgeline. But once you have gotten used to it, it can grant you a restful sleep you will never forget. And thank you so much for your comment. And I really hope your granddaughter gets a lot of good experiences with you out camping! You are truly giving her a gift by doing so.

I have been hammock camping for over 40 years , I have 3 Hennesy Hammocks and a couple cheep single layer hammocks just for hanging out , if you are thinking about trying it out I suggest doing some research a head of time , there are some good books too , The Ultimate Hang is a good starting guide .

I use a Hennessy hammock with the bubble pad. I go on canoe trips so have a little more cargo space but I wrap it around my internal dry bag in my canoe pack and the bulk is not noticeable. Mulch easier to set up - I have jungle hammock so slide it between layers. Enjoyed the video and I also enjoy pine tea. Cheers from Canada.

Sounds like you go on amazing trips! Canoe trips is something I really want to try. And thanks for the tip. I'll try to test out ways to minimize the bulk, because the pad really helps to keep me warm at night.

Thanks a lot for the comment! It is called "Urberg 2-Person Dome Tent G3 Kombu Green". That's what it's listed in my order-list, at least! To be honest, two people would struggle to sleep in it. But it was very nice to sleep in there alone! And it was super easy to set it up alone. I'd rather classify it as a decent, roomy 1-person tent.

There was a solo, long distance motorcycle rider in the US who had maps of graveyard locations and that's where he'd camp at night on his trips. Considering personal safety he figured no one would mess with him in there or even know he was there. Far as I know he never had any problems from the living, or the dead. 🙂

Thak you so much for that very kind comment! The only mod I've done is replacing the suspension ("Chinch Bucle" + attatched Amsteel, and "Spider/Poly Straps", both from Dutchware). This has helped a lot to trim down the time to set up and down the hammock. I try to be careful not to go overboard with mods. First get used to what I have, and then decide if anything else is actually needed. I looked into the Double Bubble Pad, and it seems like the perfect next upgrade for me. I'm definetly getting that pretty soon, so thanks a lot for that tip!

I've always wondered what it feels like to be flashbanged IRL. 3:40 made me wonder no more. Isnt traffic sounds categorized as white noise? I could understand that its no problem sleeping with that noise, unless youngsters come booming with their boom boxes at 4 am while puking out the rear windows. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Oops, sorry about that! Yes, I guess you could say it's white noise. At least with the distance I was from the road. If I were closer, I think the larger trucks would do damage damage to my ears :o Oh, and there were plenty of cars with sound system louder than a jet engine driving by. I tried that one time, and it made it very hard to lay diagonally, because the mat kept sliding around :( Maybe I'd need some anti-slide material under it, or have a double layered hammock. Or a hammock like the Haven that has a flat base. Thanks you so much for commenting!

Sleeping outside is definetly a hard thing. I remember once i brought my dog and a tent. At night i heard rustling beneath the tent. I was scared for real because it was most likely a snake. i took my dog out and we hiked for two hours and came back. Lifted the tent and moved it a little just so i could inspect under it. Snakeyboy was gone, probably went inside my sleeping bag while i was away.

Once more, a great video! keep up the good work! If you ever need your knives sharpened, contact me :D i would also recommend heating the sticks after carving, they'll darken and the moisture will go out. What you're left with is a harder stick as well as probably less woody taste unless you like the taste of mother nature. Try making a fork next time, would be cool to see. I guess it could be made easily by splitting and using string wrapped into it to hold the fingers of the fork out.
