At 5 minutes in you show how to put the feet on the unit. I noticed the official Ikea instructions show putting a small square sheet in between the foot with sticky adhesive and the base of the unit. Do you know what that small cutout is? I imagened it was some sort of adhesive tape to help the round feet adhere better than they would to the actual base.

Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! I appreciate your attention to detail. I found my original manual, and I’m honestly not sure about that small cutout either. My feet already came with adhesive on them, so I just peeled away the wax paper to reveal the sticky part. My best guess is that it might be a template to help place the feet evenly in the four corners. To be on the safe side, I would recommend contacting IKEA Customer Service. Thanks for pointing this out and happy assembling!

How well does it stick to concrete walls?
@KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY 8 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and for your question! Although I haven’t tried using peel and stick wallpaper on concrete myself, I did some quick research to help out. I was surprised to find out that it was possible. Research states: Peel and stick paper can adhere to concrete walls, but success depends on the wall’s condition and the type of paper you use. Here’s a quick guide: - **Surface preparation is key**: Make sure your concrete surface is smooth, clean, and free of dust, dirt, and grease for optimal adhesion. You might need to wash the walls with a TSP solution or sand them lightly to create a better bonding surface. - **Consider the type of peel and stick paper**: Opt for thicker, high-quality vinyl wallpapers with strong adhesive backing for better adherence on concrete. - **Manage expectations**: While peel and stick paper can work on concrete, it might not be as permanent or durable as traditional wallpaper or paint. Be prepared for possible peeling at the edges over time, especially in high-moisture areas. Here are some additional tips: - Apply the wallpaper in small sections, smoothing out any air bubbles as you go. - Use a primer specifically designed for high-alkaline surfaces like concrete if the wallpaper recommends it. - Monitor the edges of the wallpaper periodically, especially in humid environments, and reapply if necessary. 😀Just a heads up-the texture of the concrete may show through the wallpaper, kind of like saran wrap over a bumpy surface. Good luck with your project, and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

How do we know where the water line and dryer pipes going?
@KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY 25 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! Since I do a lot of DIY projects, I invested in an advanced stud finder that can detect pipes within walls. In the video description, I’ve linked to the materials I used, including two types of stud finders. The one with the LEDs on top is the same one I used in the video. Additionally, I used a step stool to look behind each washer and dryer to get an idea of where the lines and pipes start going into the walls. I hope this information is helpful for you!

Did you put it on top of your window muntins?
@KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY 25 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! Fortunately, my window muntins are inside the glass, so I had a nice flat surface to work with. However, in my previous apartment with old single-pane windows, I had to deal with muntins as well. I ended up cutting small rectangles for each window pane, which was a lot of work but definitely worth it for the heat control. If you have to do the same, just take your time and it should work out nicely!

I was thinking you could just flip the vanes one at a time, instead of flipping the whole rail. So, before I install mine, I need to check the rotation direction of the clips and install it so the neighbors can't watch my TV :)
@KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY 4 күн бұрын
My apologies for the delay in response. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts on your project! For my project, the main goal was to change the direction of opening and closing the blinds so I wouldn't have to crawl on my couch, lol. Generally, you can't change the direction of vertical blinds by flipping the vanes one at a time. I tried that too and nearly got one stuck because the clips that hold the vanes have a slight curve to them. Definitely check the rotation direction of the clips before you install them to make sure your privacy is intact. Happy DIY-ing, and thanks again for your comment!

Is it normal for the paint to look textured on wine glass, almost frosted ? I spraypainted a clear wineglass, and the paint at first looked clear but then looked cloudy.
@KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your question! Yes, it's normal for the paint to look frosted when you spray paint the outside of a wine glass. If you reference the last vase I painted in the video, you'll notice that I painted the inside, which also has a frosted appearance. It looks glossier because you see the color through the glass. For a clear, see-through look with a color change, you might want to try glass tinting instead. I hope this helps, and happy painting!

Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful. For mounting over a thick chair rail or half-inch molding, you might need to use spacers to ensure the your unit will sit flush with the wall. @KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY Ай бұрын
Thank you for watching the video and for reaching out with your question! It sounds like you might be experiencing some alignment issues with your drawers. The three bottom larger drawers in the IKEA Alex unit are indeed the same size. To help troubleshoot, could you provide more specific details on how they're misaligning? Sometimes, getting the hardware into the slots can be tricky due to the paint finish. Also, ensure that the brackets are correctly placed; if they were put on wrong, it could cause alignment problems. I once built the frame upside down myself, so I understand the challenges! Feel free to share more details, and I'll do my best to assist you further.

@KimagineDIY
@KimagineDIY 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and for your question! Yes, you can drill a hole in an IKEA Besta unit to run cords through. For our Besta unit, we found that the cardboard backing was thin enough to drill a hole for running cords. Just take your time and ensure you're drilling in a spot that won't affect the unit's stability. If you're unsure, it might be helpful to refer to ask Ikea Customer service or seek advice from a professional.
