The song is originally drummed by Nick Buda. Matt Billingslea is her current drummer, and drums what Buda came up with on the re-recorded "Taylor's versions".

I want to appreciate your efforts but the electronic kit just doesn't work for me. I performed this and most Beatle hits over 500 times. RINGO taught me everything.

This is my first cover drum solo. I've been practicing it without your video when I can, and I'm probably up to 80% full speed now, but with tiny messups. Thank you so very much for this super descriptive and super helpful walk-through. Drums are so fun to learn🎉 I'm gonna try and learn to read drum sheet music, as well. I can see that each drum piece is just a different note, like other instruments. Thanks again 😊 I came back to watch this again so I can slow back down and follow it without pausing and rewinding😮

Very well explained, those parts! i have decided to try to knock this out as only 1 very good drummer where i play monthly (Jam session) can do this song, and guitar players absolutely love this tune, (i wonder why - not really) and i want to surprise him, so i picked your video to start with because of how you explained one of the Hendrix tunes. i can nail that tune now. I like your humility!

What kick does really on the groove? Just 1 and 3 or shuffle too? A lot of videos show different stuff...

Please check out the Shel Talmy (the Who's early Producer) stereo version of the tune on KZfaq. It is a revelation. No tambourines or anything else muddying the sound. For forty-some years I had (we all had) been missing something because of what was commercially available. Until I found the Talmy stereo mix, that is. Moon is very active on the hi hat during the song and its funky "Hi hat open" backbeat during its "straight eights" provides a whole new dimension to what is going on throughout most all of the number. And his ride and crash cymbal are now clearly in evidence. Still mixed down somewhat, but definitely more "there". I clocked the tempo of the tune at 120 bpm on my metronome listening to the tune--which is in E Major. Lest one think I was playing the record too slowly. 😉 Not 140. I used the metronome when I practiced the electric 12-string solo until I had it nailed down....on a Rickenbacker, of course! Haha! By the bye, I am convinced that Jimmy Page (Yardbirds, Zeppelin) played the solos. For years he quashed the idea that he had. Then he finally admitted it! Ha! I never thought Townshend sounded like Page, or vice-versa, at any time. Something else that might be of interest--especially to guitar players--is that Page's G strings are tuned to standard guitar pitch in unison rather than the typical octave apart that one finds on a typical 12-string. That imparts a peculiar sound to his work on this number. I enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work! 🙂

@@DrumsTheWord But it does play great, doesn't it:) Except for that fast 16th stuff with both hands on the HH, which makes hitting the SN to your left a nightmare. You need to add a second SN or second HH for that. If you feel adventurous, place T1, T2 and SN to your left in a triangle, and put an Octapad II in the middle. That's my configuration, with a Roland D20 below the Octapaddy ;) I totally fell in love with that setup, despite some stuff you can't properly play with it.
