i'm gonna try to go over everything bill and ford related in the book , than you can draw the conclusion yourself. spoilers, obviously. in the book bill is showing ways to make people love you. after a bunch of jokes , there's a section called 'THE "LOVE CAGE"' in which he says "If your date is still somehow unimpressed by your screaming and smells, then simply trap them in a massive stone pyramid and sing an increasingly shrill song until they're mentally broken enough to confess their true feelings!" this directly parrarels in weirdmageddon when bill traps ford in a giant stone pyramid and sings we'll meet again. next, in the book bill lists his exes. list is crossed out, but if you look closely you can see what looks to say ford written under the thing crossing it out. next, bill shows the missing pages of journal 3, the ones ford talks about his personal relationships in. it starts with ford being lonely, until bill comes and speaks with him for the first time, clearly doing his usual manipulation tactics, making ford feel wanted for once in his life. ford starts referring to bill as his muse, and they're clearly both infatuated with each other. fords birthday comes around, bill is the only person who remembered, he spelt out ford with dead rats on his porch . ford appreciates the attempt of a gift, but tells him he should really work on his grasp of human customs. to make up for this, bill offers to mix him a drink. ford declines at first but eventually he agrees. they get drunk together and sing karaoke. now, ford writes a bunch of things in a way different handwriting than his normal one, but some of these that hint at a possible relationship. now next, bill lets himself be vulnerable around ford. i'll be it, he lies to ford, but he still has a bit of truth in it. bill opens up about his home dimension, which he destroyed. ford asks what destroyed it, bill goes blank, showing a trauma response earlier mentioned. "by a monster" he finally responded, and ford offers to beat it up for him, bill responding "sixer, it would eat you alive." this shows bill genuinely trusting ford enough to open up to him, which he typically wouldn't do for other humans. after a few pages about fiddleford and fords relationship, it goes back to bill. bill has at this point not spoken to ford for weeks, and he guilts him about how he hung out with fiddleford instead of working on their project ( this being the portal) bill than tells ford an important piece of advice "trust no one." so even after all these years, ford chose to keep that in the journal because he genuinely believes bills advice. (granted, he's right to do so.) ford finds bill out. he shuts the portal down and gets rid of everything bill related. ford installed a door that didn't let bill in, and he scratched at like a cat it all night. ford is making a design for a bill-proof suit, and trying to put steak into his mind like seen in the show. bill posesses zombies to speak to ford, practically begging ford to continue working with him. bill says "admit it , you've missed me" to which ford responds "i have missed you." which most interpret as billford, i personally wouldn't because after he says "but my aim is getting better." referencing when stan made that joke in s1 episode 2. ford says he heard it from their mom, meaning they both probably got that joke from their mom. anyway, back to bill and ford. bill writes post it notes to ford back and forth. "CAN WE TALK?" - bill "NO!" - ford "PRETTY PLEASE?" - bill "I'D RATHER DIE !" - ford "OH, DON'T BE SO DRAMATIC" - bill "I'M AN AUTHOR, WE'RE ALL DRAMATIC." - ford "HEY WANNA HEAR A JOKE?" - bill "NO!" - ford "KNOCK KNOCK!" - bill "NOT NOW! I HAVE A HEADACHE"- ford "THATS BECAUSE IVE BEEN KNOCK-KNOCKING YOUR SKULL AGAINST THE WALL!" - bill "HAHAHAHAHAHA" -bill "STOP WASTING MY POST-IT NOTES!" - ford bill than places a venomous snake into his journal "WAKEY WAKEY! HERES A SNAKEY!" bill wrote on a post it note. ford plays his favorite song on repeat in a cassette, so that it gets stuck in bills head for eternity. at this point in time fords writing has stopped being in cursive, meaning he's now frustrated. ford woke up on the roof, almost dying of hypothermia. bill possessed him to take him there . bill left a bunch of things for ford, including a vhs. he recorded himself in fords body saying "WELCOME BACK TO PUPPET HOUR WITH BILL! SAY HI, KIDS! TODAYS PUPPET IS MY OLD PAL SIXER. SIXERS HAD A ROUGH DAY. BUT HIS NIGHT WAS EVEN ROUGHER. WANNA SEE?" bill then showed a montage of all the things he's done in fords body. not only that, but he took polaroid pictures of it. first is him in front of a blue curtain with text on it that says "PUPPET HOUR." he's holding a mini sock-puppet of ford. the rest of the photos have captions. there's one with a dart in the side of his face, he looks drunk and is holding too angry men close to him. this is captioned "partying" the next one is him shirtless on a cop car, it's captioned "must burn this photo." this implies that these captions aren't from bill, but rather from ford. next is a photo of a lower-back tattoo that says "flirty gal xo" with little hearts and lips. this is captioned "must remove with lasers. next is him laying in the grass shirtless covered in thorns and leaves, captioned "my whole body hurts" next is him putting a nail through his hand, with a hammer. captioned "why would he do this?" next he's slapping a police officers stomach to the point it's red, captioned "disrespecting the law" (though i will say i'm not quite sure why the police officer looks completely cool with it.) and the last is him eating a jar of spiders, captioned "i keep coughing up spiders" bill corrupts his dreams, in it he calls a number from one of stan's scams ( a previously mentioned thing that ford thought of, but bill convinced him not to do.) bill gives him 72 hours to put on the portal. ford writes about contacting stan to bury the journals (referring to the backstory in a tale of 2 stan's) the next page, bill says that all his threats were jokes and ford has no humor. he is in denial about being upset (this is the same denial he's shown every other time he's in denial.) he drinks beer, and then goes to a off-brand taco bell. to show what happened here, they show a police call made by the employee. she says "hi, yeah, i'm working at the drive-through window at burrito paradox interdi-mexican resteraunt, and there's a- [muffled sounds of explosions and screaming in the background] There's a triangle, i think he's had a lot to drink, he ordered 'one sixer please' and when we told him that didn't make any sense he started crying" she says more but this is all that's relevant to billford. so he got drunk the night ford disappeared , which most would assume is because he lost his ex-boyfriend he still cares about. the rest isn't important to billford, besides the fact mabel calls him a clingy ex and tells him to go crush on someone else's uncle.
