Customers are the only way Presonus gear gets fixed, they have no service department, so they depend on faq and blogs to figure out work around. But if you make a comment on a presonus followers group they blackball you and herrass you. I have the monitor station and it works fine, just limited.

Ummm. Big deal. USB is on the front. I was hoping for an actual review. Plugging it in to update is actually more conveniently accessible from the front. There’s no point in leaving it plugged in and taking up a port just for updates if you’re gonna use Ethernet. But, really they should have two usb inputs one in the front and one in back. Oh well. Now I’m gonna look for a real review.

We should have tried to cover this version of the solo vs the version I tried where our guitarist basically left his hands bleeding trying to perfect the bends. Check out our cover if you are interested.

Ah and yes on DIY Heaven measurments show that 990 pro vs dt 990 (older ver than 2005 year) are different a bit. Also 600 Ohm is also a bit different from 250. So, consider.

Emotiva a100 is very very basic amp. Ive used several amps and now on vintage yamaha pc2002 with xlr passive preamp alps 50k with headphone/acoustic selector (Luxman AS-5III), with vintage audio-technica xlr cable welded to it. Shanling EM5 as DAC. All these will beat sht from any modern amp under 2k$ by all means except pc2002 has not many inputs. Actually only xlr and 6.3 (but 6.3 will downgrade signal noticably). This combo so good that any apo equilization or any passive preamp or cable you change, you will hear difference anytime, on any track. This amp costed on modern money 4k$. So now it can be found for 400$ so its one of the best ratio you could ever found. So please, use better amp, especally for these headphones. Also dt990 can be fixed a little, by foam inside and outside. Read dt v3mod (or on youtube) and in diy audioheaven revies where he lowered peak with toilet paper.) Also Ive had Focal clear, r70x, dt 1990,1770, 1770x, 770, hd600. Ive sold everything and left r70x as most linear of them, but after all I still wanna return dt990 250 or 600Ohm cause their signature cant be replaced by any headphones. Also 990 is light, cheap, airy-open sound, not fatiguing, with very pleasand low end ruble in mid-upper area and yes they are a bit muddy. But if you fix peak and add a bit more bass they are close to perfection by all means. Btw I really wanted to replace huge pc2002 with modern analog, but I found nothing close under 1k$ so.. yes. No options) Even vintage luxmans with headphone jack costed for 2k$ didnt played better from em5 (maybe condition issue, but Ive tested also with top mcintosh amp - same results - nothing fancy).. so Its a great device without 0 coloration. So some would not like it. Good as glass of water.

I sold mine, it really didn’t do anything for me in the end. It also f*#k’d with the audio/Midi setup on Mac. It also couldn’t power many of my usb midi devices. I bought a 8 bank streamigy usb hub for $90 that lets me have 7 devices connected, on and off switches for each, it always works and doesn’t even need to be powered most of the time (I don’t know how, but its true) Don’t get this. Its a waste of money

I was also looking into getting a Midi interface since I have a number of multi timbral devices that can use up all 16 midi channels. So while looking into my options both the mioXM and mioXL showed up and well let’s just say one of the reasons they are both crossed out of my list of options is indeed there not being a USB-B connection on the back of the unit. But I will also point out that the units are both way more advanced than what I need and this is also reflected in the prices of the units. And for similar prices to the mioXM there are a few better options for my use case out there and those do actually all have USB-B on the back of the unit …
@juicythedj750

The MioXL is in a league of its own, definitely in its price category! Other options lack the connectivity & configurability.
@MarcEdwards
@MarcEdwards 4 ай бұрын
Hi from 2024! I completely agree, and the USB port being on the front of the unit was the primary reason I decided to not purchase a mioXL. It’s surprising iConnectivity haven’t updated it to resolve this issue. I ended up buying an ESI M8U eX, which had other issues, like using double sided tape as their solution for rack ears. Disappointed for many other reasons, I ended up selling the M8U eX. Why are there no good rack mounted MIDI interfaces?! I should have kept my Emagic AMT8. Edit: Oh, no! I’ve just realised all iConnectivity’s new devices have the computer USB on the front, including their PlayAUDIO1U. I guess that means I’m never buying their stuff. :/ What a stupid decision.
@juicythedj750
@juicythedj750 2 ай бұрын
Seriously, is the front placement of the USB port all that's keeping you from buying it? The MioXL is in a completely different league when it comes to configurability and connectivity. The USB ports on the iConnectivity devices in general are mainly there as a last resort for network issues, firmware updates, maintenance & backups... You'll get the most out of it using RTP Midi (higher number of ports accessible, connection with iPad for editor apps etc.) The PlayAUDIO1U is intended specifically for use in live settings and you definitely want these ports at the front for accessibility & quickly setting up redundant playback systems. If you really insist on using USB, just grab yourself an angled cable.
@MarcEdwards
@MarcEdwards 2 ай бұрын
@@juicythedj750 I understand RTP MIDI, but it’s not how I want to run my setup. I’m currently using two CME U6MIDI Pros, and they’ve been rock solid. The best MIDI interfaces I’ve owned (I’ve previously had Unitor8, AMT8, ESI M8U eX and others). CME have said they’re very interested in making a larger rack interface. I’ll buy it the second it becomes available, if they do it. MioXL just isn’t what I want, and it has the wrong priorities and choices for my setup.
@MarcEdwards
@MarcEdwards 2 ай бұрын
@@juicythedj750 It also seems very clear that iConnectivity like their approach, and do not intend to change. That’s fine! It’s their company and their products. It’s obviously not what some of us want though.

i feels like the biggest problem is not the USB connector placement, but the fact that it doesn't act like an actual USB hub at the same time. So if you have devices that are sending MIDI over USB and are also using USB for data exchange you either run 2 cables from each device (USB for data to computer and MIDI 5 pin to mioxl), or switch USB cable from mioxl to actual USB hub and back for data related tasks, or bypass mioxl altogether with something like copperlan...

1000% on the USB port on the front...for a rack mount device! I have a fairly full rack and when I brought this in it baffled me that the only way to connect USB to the computer was through the front. I could understand if it was a desktop unit because most would be using with a laptop and that would be preferable, but in a permanent installation that stupid USB connection is just dangling off the front and drives me nuts. Of course they also include the shortest possible cables in the box which were useless for my desktop computer needs, so that required purchasing longer cables. That said, the device works brilliantly and required nothing but plugging it in to establish the connections in my studio.
@antiphlex
@antiphlex 11 ай бұрын
When I bought mine, I was always going to use RTP/UDP as I run nearly everything in my studio over ethernet, so I didn't care much about USB for my own sake. But nonetheless I do agree. Putting the USB interface on the front plate is idiotic. I have a feeling it may have been something to do with the internal PCB layout, and who knows, it may have been a few cents cheaper to put that socket on the front and then gaslight the target consumer with "it's not a bug, it's a feature". Yeah, no it's not, and nobody is buying that angle, iConnectivity. Either put all the primary interface connectors on the back so that cable routing isn't an issue, or don't force firmware through USB. Better yet, make the device a dedicated ethernet device and quit playing both sides, because all things considered, this is actually quite a good MIDI router.

cool home studio! you even got a fire extinguisher in one room! I just bought one on reverb for 250 used. All I'm needing to do with it is hook up the S/PDIF out on my Antelope Amari to the input of the Central Station S/PDIF in (at the 192khz max), and then have some TRS going from the back of the Central Station to my monitors. I've set the ball real low in terms of my expectations for other features it's supposed to include. If it does this, and nothing but this, I'll be happy lol

It is actually a good idea to have the front porch and Connections in the front especially when you're working in a sound studio lab Electronics lab that they have to access through the front connection and then the back of neck is back connections or good when you have the thing permanently in a rock mounted unit where you cannot access to the Rock Mount unit at the back so the front porch in the front is a good idea thank you very much for the video I will be picking up one of those units sometime next week

I couldn't figure out why mixes sounded like 'cat's be tortured in a tin box' when I played them on other systems. THEN I finally figured out that both of tweeters in the NS-10M's were blown! I guess kept adding highs to compensate for this (unknowingly) and this accounts for the trebly, tinny mixes. It kills me to spend nearly $500 for new tweeters just because they are 'vintage' and 'groovy'. Is there really no alternative that might be more reasonably priced and will still fit that opening? No luck finding any as of yet.
