Question, Do I need to cut the quill spike after it flowers? It has faded to green and a little brown on the tips. Thanks

Hey! So you popped up on my feed and you are absolutely adorable and thank you for the advice 😭 I’m in my 20s and a new home owner and notorious for … my very not green thumb. Thank you for helping the younger gen like me learn things so easily 💜 Edit: my husband wants to start growing herbs and plants to help cut grocery inflation so I’m saving videos to have for him if he gets lost.

I have several string of things and have seen this string of buttons and didn’t realize it was in the same family and have been wanting to get one. Dont they get red on the leaves from sunstressing? Tfs
@JoyUsGarden5 күн бұрын
I love this one. Yes, the more light they get, the pinker/redder the edges turn. However, too much hot sun will cause burn. Nell

I've never seen a string of buttons get that long.
@JoyUsGarden5 күн бұрын
Maybe because they usually break? The stems break off easier the longer they get. Nell

Mine is a time plant, when it was 2 years old at my place it had something like buds... Do they bloom? After some day those just fell off... But I am curious, please let me know. Also, mine is in a very small pot though the plant has grown really well....

Does this work if you have an old, overgrown bougainvillea? Can I train it even though it’s old?

I've had mine for about 20 years. They propagate easily in water or in damp soil. I've never pruned mine -- just be sure to rotate the plant, so that it gets even light exposure over time. It's one of the lowest maintenance plants I have.
@JoyUsGarden13 күн бұрын
Hi - I've heard they propagate easily both ways; thanks for sharing. It certainly is an easy plant! Nell

Hi Nel! 2 1/2 years ago I bought a selection of 4 pots of Rhipsalis (2-3" pots) but one wasn't marked. I think it's a Dancing Bones and🎉 they're now in 4" pots. Mine hang in a Southern exposure but it's aemi-obstructed so they're not getting blasted. Love this genus! Thank you for sharing your beautiful plant and care tips. ❤

Beautiful plant ❤️💯 However , FYI: that is a poisonous plant so please wash your hands and don’t touch your face after handling plant.
@lieselsmith474211 күн бұрын
Poisonous? You can literally put it in fish tank to grow like water plants.
