there's a difference for sure. but it doesn't sound better. it sounds different. i'd argue that the last example sounds worse even - but would be better for mixing.

No guitar is worth 20,000 dollars. Your video doesn't change my mind. I have acoustics that sound just as good and didn't have to sell a kidney to pay for it.

If I had my way…., multi-camera, daily live stream with one camera on the ready for up close interaction. I’m a 52-year-old semi disabled guy that simply cannot get my fill of this flavor of luthier-ism. If you must do something top secret, fill the void with a montage of Matt’s lacquer jokes! Also, offer as many dedicated videos as you see fit to do (for example, that extremely old guitar that you are about to wrap up (please, don’t skimp on the closing details)!! ….. ”if” I had my way 😉.

We had to take down a few trees to widen our driveway so our tenant's horse trailer would fit and I scored some nice lumber for bindings. (my neighbor dried them in his kiln for me) Holly, Aromatic Cedar, Dogwood and Magnolia. The Yellow Pines went to my neighbor! BTW the cedar makes nice kerfing and the box smells like grandma's house! LOL! I found a fine blade on my bandsaw helps with blowout. @12tpi

You are my favorite guitar builder just to let you know and I recommended you to my three friends who have a small guitar shop real close to my home and we are considering the CNC for making next and things like that for electric guitars too, but you doing a great job my friend might wanna wear a hairnet though and get wood chips in your hair. I’m just messing with you man you’re great.

One thing you can do, is have one template, for the full neck width, rather than the neck minus binding, I bought a Martin one, with that you can double side tape your fretboard to it and use ball bearing rabbeting bit, like you would for binding the guitar. Do it on the router table. It works well so long as you are comfortable with climb cuts in spots to avoid tear out.

Breedlove Soft Cases are BS. I bought one at Sweetwater and padding sucks no real protection for $80 with tax.

There’s 100’s under a thousand that are stage ready, even monoprice accoustics are awesome and so affordable. The sky is the limit in todays market. I bought a Gretsch Jim Dandy parlor recently for less than $200 and what a sweet sweet sound it produces. Sky is the limit!

Im not looking for perfect production videos. The content...its cool to see building and methods used or the tools but the buisness side of it as well. Ted Woodford is this example. The video production isn't great but his repairs and talking content and his playing too.. but he talks about the buisness of repair. So mixed grab of things is cool.

I think you could just strap-on a Go Pro and film some pov guitar building, maybe with minimal real-time commentary, and you’d have compelling, low-production videos.

Love hearing the love for the Yamahas. I just went to buy my first serious acoustic, primarily looking at Martins and Gibsons (and not the cheap ones). Found a Yamaha FG830, spruce top and rosewood body, very similar to the last one in your video but with no electronics. Test played it alongside a Martin D28 and found a very similar feel and sound. There was a bit more depth to the tone on the Martin, but not nearly as much as I expected, certainly not enough to justify 10x the price, not for where I'm at as a player. And I just found I liked the feel of the Yamaha more. It looks and feels like a high end guitar, not one I got for $350.

Hi I could use some help. I bought a used Guild D240E and I can't find any details on the construction. I do suspect the neck is a bolt on mortise and tenon joint. I am crossing my fingers that they did not (glue) this joint too. Thanks in advance for helping us all out with your tutorial videos, they are very helpful.

One trick I use with my spatulas is to turn them bottom side up and run them on a buffing wheel. It gives the edge a slight radius and tends to hold the blade tight to the bottom of the fretboard.

I was changing my strings and noticed my bridge is slotted, but I also have slotted bridge pins. I never noticed this before, and I wonder if the Luthier I brought it to had done it when I paid him for a set-up when the guitar was new. So I slotted the string through the bridge slots and the pin slots *face palm* I wonder if I can adjust it without using new strings.

They way I see it is the CNC is just another tool, just like a bandsaw or drum sander. If you get right down to it, a claim could be made that an instrument isn't handmade if any power tool is used.
