The irony is not lost that Jerry here is singing a eulogy for Janis Joplin, who had just died from a heroin overdose. Jerry would die from the same addiction 20 years later.

Reading a Spanish author’s take on the thin line between musicianship and business management got me here! And I’m loving every second!

The Dead. Little more can be said until Billy Strings and Mikaela Davis dropped the same stuff the Dead did? I did that and am still smiling

Strange he had such custom guitars but his best work was on a few strats. He has such a bright tone with w fender twin it seems illogical he played heavy guitars later. Could have but the preamp a setup in a Strat.

This makes me very emotional, I would do anything to jump into this radio broadcast and never come back. Truly a magical world we never will experience again. The Trolley Dodgers were the best team on Earth.

I remember watching that game and those FT's live. Even though he was beating his chest and coming across very over confident in that moment, to see him miss those last 2 FT's was tough, and his reaction was appropriate. If he makes even just 2 of those 3 Ft's, the game would have continued. Makes all 3 and sends his team to the tourny, and it's one of the great moments in the school's history. But that's not how it unfolded. I can't even comprehend what that young man felt missing that final one. Glad he seemed to be able to continue on with his life and career.

kudos to the writers of this dialog. Here in 2024, I am now probably the same age as Martin Crane was when they wrote the script. Hits a lot closer to home.

Washington was acting like an arrogant punk that game. The. After making the first free throw, he looked to his bench and said “it’s over”.

My all-time favorite version other than perhaps the one from April 1971 at the Fillmore East (if I could only remember the exact date) and I love how Babbs is feeling his high octane lysergic rocket fuel and sort of swaying in his own time space continuum and almost playing air guitar as well🐦🌹🇺🇸💖✌🏼

How could this be 52 years ago? It feels like maybe 5 or 6. I remember that season better than last season. The Mets shot out of the gate after the strike ended, and they looked stronger than the 1969 team. Adding Willie Mays, and then having him hit one out in his first game with the team, gave the Mets fans real hope that this team would run away with the NL East flag. Mays hit another homer a few days later. Alas, it turned out that the Pirates were actually a little better in 1972 than in their World Championship season the year before, and they started winning and winning, passing the field and running away with the division title.

Apparently on 78 rpm disks. There’s a discussion elsewhere in the comments here regarding its authenticity, and it is authentic.
