PBGuru! Thank you - this was so helpful! I was trying to figure out if we can organize the pictures into a sequence + pick our own pictures per slde or page too! I also tried the coupon - it didn't work for me though. :(

I have purchased several Printique photobooks over the years. Previously I had used companies like Shutterfly that print using laser or ink jet printing on good quality papers, but they are digital prints. They are sharp images, and the colours are reasonably accurate, but you introduced me to Printique, and explained the continuous tone or silver halide process which Printique uses. It is as you note a chemical process. Printique print their photos and their book pages on traditional photo paper, which was used exclusively before digital cameras arrived. When I received my first Printique photobook, I was literally “blown away” by the difference between digital and silver halide. The colours were richer and more natural. They had lots of “punch” without exhibiting that “digital edge”. As an amateur photographer I could really appreciate the difference, and Printique became my “go to” source for Photobooks. But something changed. The photobook I received this week did not have that same punch. The colours seemed darker, and simply “off”. One image lacked detail and the colours ran together…a bit blobby. I received an explanation from Printique. A few years ago, Kodak was bought out by an international company. Their previous reliable supply from Kodak became unreliable, affecting their ability to fill their orders. They decided to switch to Fuji paper. I also discovered that previously, all photos were visually checked for colour by one of Printique’s employees. That person (persons) was replaced by AI. It my view that was a retrograde step. Have you seen the latest iteration of Printique photobooks? I would love to get your impression. Are there photobook companies that still use Kodak paper? And finally, let me say I sincerely appreciate the informative and professional service you provide to the public in general, and to serious photographers in particular, at no cost to me. You clearly have a passion for what you do. I have learned a lot from all your videos. Thanks again!

Considering their predatory practices with their inkjet printers, I wouldn't touch HP with a 10ft pole, no matter how good their products seem to be.

I am excited. I just ordered the Kodak. I have been looking up reviews, watching too many you tube videos for 3 days now!!! I have a HP sprocket from when the first came out. I love it. But, the colors were a little off. And now that it was THAT MANY years ago, I don't have all the same app access since my Sprocket is so old. I also have one of the original Canon Selphy 4 x 6 photo printers using. And LOVE the quality of the photos. The Dye Sup process is just amazing. And the pricing of the refill cartridges and paper for the Kodak is affordable. Thank you so much. Even though I do love myself some sticky back paper? I know want to make a photo album of my ENTIRE iPhone photos! I miss photo albums. I know the picture will be small, but they will be ACCESSIBLE for me to flip through whenever I want! THANK YOU!!!

I have been creating photo books for 15 years and coincidentally have used double page spreads for my favourite photos. I have always used the full page. Can you tell me why you have used full pages on some but left white space around others? Is it an issue of clarity of the photos (which I must say are all stunning)? Or is it just a design element for different e and interest? Kindest regards from Patricia in New South Wales, Australia.

Well presented! I was worried that you were not going to cover "viewing distance." Thankfully, I watched until the end and you finally talked about this key factor. In my experience, large poster prints or "wall art" look spectacular when viewed from several feet away, even when their pixel density is only 100 ppi. For the most part, you did a very good job using ppi (instead of dpi) in its proper context. You did slip up on three occasions. I would have corrected these errors in post-production before uploading to KZfaq. In today's world of AI (2024) images with very low pixel densities (eg: 50 ppi) can be "upscaled" using specialized AI (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms and the resulting files can look great when they are printed at home, or by a commercial printer. One final point... most commercial printers use high-quality hardware for printing (ie: an Imagesetter) that have an ink print density of 2500 dpi.
