Gotta love beurocracy getting its tendrils in and about to ruin things. What a great video. The drone shots and extra angles were really appreciated and elevated the whole edit. Little things like including the stop for the water from of the waterfall and the tent building added texture and immersed me, allowed down moments between the riding. Just a nicely paced edit overall and great storytelling. Cheers.

Hey all, Im from this group with Stevie, and Ian is my Uncle, Sad to say we lost Ian a few weeks ago after another car collided with him. We had not long returned from this years amazing Northcoast 500 run, then a week later, it happened on a local road couple of miles from home. The Funeral is this 09/07/24 this Tuesday 9.30am Bike Procession from his house Wardneuk Kilmarnock to Irvine/Dreghorn crematorium for 10.30am. Anyone who can make it welcome. Meeting yous last year Stephen and this video was main reason i bought the insta360 for this years trip, stuck it on Ians bike and captured some amazing footage of him i'll be able to share with his family. Thank you. Ride Safe All!

You are the first person I have ever seen that says they are light and easy to maneuver! Granted you ride adventure bikes! I miss mine already. I think I'll have to pick up another one but they are so hard to come by in the US unless they are in pieces...

I've owned three 1st-Gen 1200's, (carbureted/oil-cooled), and still own one, ride it daily. I put 175,000 miles on my last one, (yes, I rebuilt it).. These machines are maybe the best UJM ever built- they do everything WELL, but you need to mod them carefully: exhaust, PROPER jetting, upgrade the suspension (stock is horrible).. get your ergos correct. Then, Superman jumps out of the phone-booth. I've had mine across the US (12,000 miles in 90 days one time) repeatedly, and I've had it on the Track, where it performs surprisingly well. I've lived/breathed/eaten these bikes for 15 years. know 'em inside and out.

Hi mate great review. Ive been looking at buying 1 of these bikes for near 2 years as 95% of my riding is off road. But do alot of miles and alot of trails not well used and desert sand in australia as well as alot of sticky mud on camping trips and remote area 800 miles away from any town. Do u think it is reliable enough to tackel this and can bikes take a punishment.
@soggybawsmoto
@soggybawsmoto Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. You won't have the problems with it in Australia that I had with mine. Not sure I'd want to ride it in sand, the speed you would need to maintain to prevent sinking would be greater than I would be happy riding a bike of that weight, but that's a personal choice. Apart from the corrosion issues affecting the electrics ( which won't happen in Oz) it has been reliable enough

Righte lads. If you want tae, instead of Billy speading 'es dosh aboot, there is a new BBC Scotland show looking for a yet un-named unknown actor on the tele to be the remake of Taggart. Except this time the main studio producingt it will be STD Studios in Glasgow. It about a Scotish Poof Taggart type character, a Police Constable "Leaonard Mince," who minces aboot Glasgow on his new talking mo'or the Ducati 999. The program is called SHITE-RIDER.

Hi Steve, I too attended the recent event at Culty Braggan. At the start of your video to my surprise you highlighted a very familiar bike to me. That very 1920 Victoria was owned through the 60's and 80's by a very close friend of our family, Mr Bill Stewart an ex Police Inspector from Dundee, who also had a lovely AJS flat tanker, plus I recall a 1912 Rover. This Victoria was ridden at the 1973 Windmill Rally in Harrogate, Yorkshire by Alfie Ingram. Both the A & B teams came first that year. The bike was very thoughtfully donated to the museum by his Wife Janet, daughter Sandra and her husband Robin after Bill passed away, so that it could remain and be proudly displayed in it's city of birth.. regards, Bill Parr.

Great to hear from you Bill, Glad to hear of someone with a connection to that bike. I know Robin, he used to host a section of his Bawdeswell web site dedicated to the Victoria brand. A good 10 years ago I helped him with some research on where the factory used to be located and the potential remains, but it looks like that page hasn't been transferred over to his new domain host. Found some great photographs recently of the factory. Knowing that this is their family's bike I'll send Robin a link to my video, and see if he still has the content offline. I'm thinking about a wee web site for my own use, so it would be good to gather his content and keep it alive. GCC Have another Victoria in their collection, it's just a shame they don't see any use. If you ever hear of any Victoria remains on your travels, feel free to pass on my details. It's the one brand that would be a certainty to get me involved in the Vintage scene. Cheers, Stevie.

Thanks for getting back, I did try to access the site where Robin had input details about this bike, but sadly I found that it could not be found now. I have a couple of grainy photos from 73 where the courier had us meet in Lochee Park for a photo shot for the paper prior to the International Windmill Rally. Alfie is in that photo on the bike, but as I say a bit grainy…. I can share if you want to see it.

Yes Mate, I had a bawl. John did offer to fly my drone for me, but I was due on the bike in a few mins and didn’t have time to set him up with it. It’s a bit cheeky, but i do this all the time. Look closely at the riding drone shots. They are not actually me riding, they aren’t even the bike I was riding at the time. When you are so far away, people rarely notice. If you have a look at my Italian Job short, there is a beautiful sweeping curve drone shot that was just a passing bike, but it matched my editing sequence perfectly 👌🏽

It's fascinating to see history like this, especially the ideas that worked but never caught on, or have been only tried rarely on more modern bikes. And those like the hand-shift that thankfully were superceded. 😉 Excellent video. I enjoyed that very much.

Glad you enjoyed it, Thankyou. I never mentioned it in the vid, but on a similar note, it was interesting to feel the difference between the 1929 Sunbeam and the 1936 Vellocette. It felt like 25 years of development, rather than 7. If you were to compare a 2024 bike to a 2017 bike it certainly wouldn’t have felt like a leap forward.
