Look at whats going on across the world. One example Holland. They told them farmers that the fertilizer was a problem and tried to shut them down. Ive been wondering what tgey were going to do here and now I know. Water, watwr is going to be how they shut us down. Who ever is issues this order is a bad actor and playing for the opposite team and should be delt with as if a traitor would be. I fish almost daily and if there is a water shortage ir sure the hell isn't in Idaho. Research what im saying and don't listen to whom ever is saying there is a shortage.

The same thing is happening in California only worse. They estimate up to a million acres of farmland could come out of production here. I farm 200 acres with contract water yet I am only receiving 40% of my contracted amount. Lake Oroville , the source of our water is full and has overflowed the spillway this year. The Government seems to always find a excuse to let more water than is necessary flow into the Pacific Ocean.

I heard the curtailment was happening because the federal government is taking the water for use in cobalt mines.

Water is a resource owned by everyone. Farmers have to understand that they aren't the only ones that use the water. When farmers put in illegal wells or steal directly from open water sources, it hurts everyone down stream. Nice, new truck you got there buddy.

Not sure I understand your statement. The farmers bought rights to the water from the state of Idaho. We have been working with the IDWR and other water users to manage the resource we have been given stewardship for. The pick up is a 2003. He does take great care of it.

UPDATE June 19, 2024: Water Curtailment Order lifted (Idaho Press) Groundwater irrigators and surface water irrigators have completed a deal that saves 330,000 acres of Idaho farmland from being dried up and averts economic catastrophe in the state. A mitigation agreement for 2024, brokered by Governor Brad Little and Lt. Governor Scott Bedke, has now been signed by all parties and has been submitted to the Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR for approval. When the deal is approved, IDWR will lift the curtailment for all nine ground water districts whose patrons irrigate with groundwater from the ESPA. “This is a huge relief to our members, who have had their livelihoods threatened over the past month,” said TJ Budge, attorney for Idaho Ground Water Appropriators. “We want to thank Governor Little, Lt. Governor Bedke, Senator Van Burtenshaw and, especially, all of our groundwater district members for their sincere and significant efforts to get a deal done before it was too late.”

I recently, May, traveled to Michigan. I was confused that there was not more planted. I stopped a guy mowing is lawn to ask. It blew my mind that there was a place that had so much water they couldn't plant yet. We had our potatoes in the ground by the first week of May. I am so sorry to hear the trouble you are having. This country is amazing with all the different conditions farms have to work with to get a crop.

This is a situation where they're calling for groundwater to be turned off, I believe, not surface water. I don't understand how a _canal_ company can order that to be done. My understanding, per the Idaho Condition, is that if a person owns their land, they also own any water on their ground or below their ground.

Let me give some insight from a guy who has lived in Southern California my whole life (61 years). My opinion is that this is about future real estate development for population growth which will bring in additional tax revenues as well. Idaho is a great State unlike California which used to be great but is now a disaster. A lot of people have already moved to Idaho and many more plan to move to Idaho. The State has to do long term planning, 20-30 years out. I think this is part of that planning. There was a lot of farm land in Southern California and they eventually sold out to real estate developers because the children did not want the farms and did see a lot of money for the land. I am not saying this is wrong or right, it is just part of what happens when progress shows up. We saw it happen here in the 1970's and 1980's when everyone wanted to live in California. Just don't let the Democrats get power or it is over. I have family in Idaho Falls that I visited in 2020 and 2022. I can see progress knocking on your door. Best wishes to all of you.

We are within our water right. If we follow the current agreement we will not be able to farm. The state issued the water right. Then over time they have lowered that. To the point that now they are asking us to no longer water our land. This is not acceptable for us or our states economy. The issue is not resolved. We just have been given the chance to water our crop this year. This video will give you some history.rumble.com/v52lhg5-weekly-town-hall-trever-belnap-and-andrew-mickelsen-water-wars.html

Why is it the east Idaho farmers have never once spoken the truth about what caused the threatened water curtailment in the first place? Why don’t you address the fact that there was a water use agreement signed in 2015 and instead of honoring that agreement east Idaho farmers ignored it year after year and continued to take and use water they weren’t entitled to?!?!
