Please after you post these beautiful homes. Can you post some tents under bridges people are living in. Something is horrendously wrong in our world.

Why would Barbara and her family dessert this home?

She made more money than she could ever spend. The financial loss would be nothing to her. As we get older, stairs and long halls become too much.

They did OK. They used it for business (made money) and lived there for years and only lost 3 million on the place. Original investors seldom make their money back. Their house was enormous to the point that even rich people find to be large. Now if they could pick it up for less it may be worth buying but that is the issue with some of these houses these people build. Like Prince and Pasiley Park. Multi million dollar compound in the middle of a pretty depressed area or Mike Tyson's mansion that no one could afford who wanted to live where it was. This place is the same. They would be better off splitting the property up and selling off the pieces.

Barbara and Ken put so much energy and money into this estate, I can't believe they ever left it. They even left the custom neon signs in the soda fountain/game room, and the three bear statues out front representing their children. I hope whoever bought it doesn't tear it down. I don't think they'll let people build log homes this large anymore...
@pineappletacos4727

Why take the neons? They were custom made for the space they’re hanging in? Barbara & Ken moved out back in 2002 so who knows - the buyer may have wanted the stuff.

Leave the heat/cool control by pool to Mitsubishi 34 seer heat/cool pumps, “hyper “ efficient doing this much sq ft. At reasonable cost/humidity control with 4 speed fans running 24/7.

The windows and doors are made by Hurd window and door company under license to Four Seasons. Hurd hard a hard time with “heat mirror “ too. Notice none of the front doors have heat mirror, only the windows & roof glass. Destroy all “heat mirror “ glass, it was a fail from invention. 7/8 insulated unit 3/16 tempered with heavy bronze tint on outer pane gets rid of all glare. And matches exterior hardware in color.

Just “wow”, this is the biggest 4 seasons Atrium “heat mirror” glass fail I have ever seen. This was put up about the same time I was installing 4 seasons at their peak in business. This is going to take some skill to fix, it depends if it’s a generation 1 or a Gen 3 design,makes a big difference . But what I will say, is do not hire 4 seasons to fix this, that business is only a shadow of it’s former self. You need experienced glass guys who mix their own sealants. Only depend on 4 seasons for parts, ,,and no glass.

It was cool after I saw the tour of everything empty. There was an old interview with barbara Mandel. I think it was like in the eighties but it was cool because she was showing the house while she was living there and how that all came about and so it was cool to see it. Empty And then when it was decorated and full of life

@@tomsimpson5317 stands to reason though. You can not maintain this kind of structure and opulence in waning years. To me this was never a home it was a museum. I fully believe that in its original creative thought, the current position on the market is its finality to pasture. Sad. I get the sense this is superficial yet safe and majestic in the mind of another for as long as they are here. Splendor is always a Taj Mahal. This is The Gold Standard by any stretch of the imagination. The very nature in this creation of imagination makes it impossible to maintain. I do not believe it was ever intended to be kept but only to enjoy for its short season by the imagined...after the new starts to wane leave the remainder for everyone else. This is the candor and appeal of equity in capitalism and as here it is always a loss, eventually. Otherwise get permission in advance. NEVER!!! Every hair is perfect...for its season.

Actually, a Chicago based company bought the entire property (well over 210 acres, the main house, 2 or 3 other houses, an old inn, a distillery plus several other buildings once used for wedding and entertainment venues and *they paid $12 million in 2022*, which is slightly less than what the sellers paid ($14.5 million) when they purchased it in 2019.

$12 million. *BUT*, it came with well over 210 acres of land that has this home, 2 or 3 other houses, an old inn, an old distillery and several other buildings that were used for music and wedding venues and various other purposes. When Barbara Mandrell lived there they used to host “Fontanel Fridays” which was a country music show every Friday that was broadcast live on one of Nashvilles radio stations.
