I think you can say that about most bad people. You can understand someones situation but doesn't mean u ignore all the bad things they have done, they still take responsibility for the things they do. Maturing is understanding that having trauma doesn't make ur bad behavior acceptable. He is a bad person (to some extent) but doesn't mean he cant change. He definitely can.

I 100% agree. Trauma can be the reason not the excuse, but I think people in the community need to cut him some slack because he hasn’t even had a way to recognize that he has trauma. Having mental health problems wasn’t really a thing talked about back then, so going to see a therapist wouldn’t cross his mind due to the backlash so many people would get for attending it. Nor does he have good enough parents who would help him in that way.

But you also have to think, doing bad things and messing up as a child/teenager doesn’t make you a bad person. You can make mistakes and do bad things without being a bad person. (to a certain extent of course)

Yes, but comparing trauma isn’t a good way of going about it. They all have trauma, which has different effects on different people, there’s no reason to compare it. All of their trauma is just as valid as the next person’s.
