i was 8-20yo (71-83), grew up seeing these graceful Beauties in their prime, loved them, a Mayors favorite. Lincoln .Plate FE 1.Iit was sad to see all those Yank Limos , Caddys, and Lincolns doing the full Stretch and pushing the 420 into obscurity, a great British car .......... anybody want a chinese MG, an Indian JAG, or a German Rolls....... NO thanks.....RIP the true British car Industry.....

The only person interested in finding a stolen car is........the owner. You can spend thousands on security gadgets, but if they are not activated, or someone has access to the safe and keys to just drive it away, then that money spent on security is wasted. The police today are only interested after an event, to enter data into their computers, from the warm security of their desk and a cup of coffee. The owner of the vehicle needs to be pro-active and maybe have a basic defender, used for the purpose they were designed for. Making them more attractive to others, does just that.

Just had a call from my local garage to book my 1997 300tdi in for some welding. He told me I could leave it over night and post the keys for them to retrieve in the morning. NO WAY!!! I said I will drive it in myself at 8am. It's a really nice one with all the gear. I am well aware how nickable they are. Too valuable to lose.

What made the old Defender unique was its modularity and adaptability. The factory range came in a wider variety of body styles including a pick-up and soft top, and aftermarket converters coukd turn it into a snowplough or a fire engine or an armoured car or any type of machine you could think of, almost like a mini Unimog. The new one, despite its improved ergonomics and technology, is just another SUV, like a Discovery or a *gasp* Land Cruiser.

It's absolutely not worth the money, but it's a British ikon and in demand, hence the price.

I love my TD5 110 CSW, it's pretty standard and fine as it is, ideal for the farm roads around here, carries dogs and tows trailers, I always look forward to driving it.

The sole reason people buy the old classic defender is for that image/lifestyle that they want to project.

Todays LR owners are of two different types: that of the status wealthy soccer mom/Starbucks swillers and the true to form outward bound rough and tumbler who doesn't care about dents or scratches. If you're of the latter, don't buy new with all the bells and whistles. If you're the former, a douche, stick to a Merc.

I’m always wondering why on such modified cars the spare will is still factory and not the actual mounted tires. In relation to the car and the modification cost this could not be a matter of money…

💥💥💥I really WONDER super HARD on this: WHY LR abandoned this body shape style ?? This Style on the vid 👆is MOSTLY VASTLY WAY MUCH MORE attractive and OFF road looking that the current 2023-2024 model. If you put them side-by-side, I bet over 90% of buyers would pick the style above in less than 5 seconds. I am actually glad Toyota is able to see this reality and is praying on it by coming up with some hints and condiments from this style above (VID) onto their most current deliveries. But yet,...there is NOTHING in today's market that resembles the APPEAL and lust this LR above is able to propel into our heart / souls / emotional. It just looks like a military / swat / army / tough tank, yet "light" and civilized British gentleman.

How much car

Our 2009 Defender 110 is now worth almost twice what we paid for it, which is crazy as it's done 210,000 kms. We've done some upgrades and use it to tow our caravan around Australia, which it does well. Because it's a workhorse I don't mind getting it dirty, but I do look after it. People stop me to ask about it. I came out of the shops in Brisbane to find a group of Chinese tourists taking selfies with our Defender in the car park! We won't be selling it. Why would we?
