I ordered a new one of these and want to program it. Can I use the key I have now to program the new one before I have the new key cut? Or do I have to have the new one cut and use that one to program the new fob?

I have a check engine light due to the neutral safety switch. Sometimes when I try to push start it sometimes doesn't start over so I have to put it in drive then neutral and back in park for it to crank over. Now when it doesn't start in park I put it in neutral and it cranks up that way. That's how I ended up with my check engine light. I have just about 168k miles on it. It was a salvage title car so I expected something to happen. Car still runs and drives.
