Great video as always. The Bones Fall in a Spiral … woah, looked into it and added it to my wish list. I read about a contemporary necromancer recently in ‘Witches of America’ and let’s say his practices were not ethical (if this dude was even telling the truth) so I’m curious to read this approach! I really need to get ‘Reading Lolita in Tehran’ I see it all the time in used book stores. Oh my GOSH Soul Cats! 🐈‍⬛ I’ve never seen this before ( I don’t think 🤔) Gathering Moss was one of the best things I’ve read this year, or ever, really, and you’re realllly making me want to read Ulysses again but WHY would I do that to myself right now with everything I’m trying to get through 😂😭😭😭

@@SecondThoughtsAboutTheMission Ulysses is really a whole reading project all by itself. It’s actually paused at the moment while I catch up on some of the other things on my ridiculous TBR, but I’ll definitely get back to it. There are just too many things to read! @NicoleACottageWitch

Moby Dick is probably my all time favourite. I’ve done several new operas like Everest and Filumena that are pretty cool. I like the music to Carmen but that and Butterfly kept trying to kill me whenever I stage managed them! Everything that could go wrong did! Mozart is pretty reliably fun though I don’t feel the need to do the Magic Flute again. It’s much less stressful just operating the surtitles. Oh and Dutchman was a lot of fun too.
@SecondThoughtsAboutTheMission
@SecondThoughtsAboutTheMission 16 күн бұрын
All signs are pointing me to Moby Dick lately! 😂 honestly, I have to familiarize myself with the opera, that’s so interesting!! (I’ve been excited to read the book for a few years now and keep waiting for the perfect time, I think todays the day). Yeah … there’s some stupid librettos out there 😂 Love Butterfly, and Magic Flute and Dutchman are favorites too, saw productions of those here in Boston. It’s difficult choosing favorites, I also love the operas of Rossini, Donizetti, Monteverdi … my favorite from the ‘contemporary’ category would be the Philip Glass triptych: Einstein on the Beach, Satyagraha and Akhenaten, (Akhenaten being my first choice because I listen to it constantly!)
@NicoleACottageWitch
@NicoleACottageWitch 16 күн бұрын
@@SecondThoughtsAboutTheMission I should listen to some Philip Glass opera. I’ve only listened to his piano music and love it. I remember glancing at the surtitles during Lucia Di Lammermoor (also very good and based on the Walter Scott novel), and thinking “oh this is why it’s in Italian!” Some of the lyrics were so ridiculous in English! Oh and that reminds me, I also love the opera Manon by Massenet but I haven’t listened to it in a long time. And yes, the book Moby Dick is so beautiful! It is a bit meandering sometimes (I think he spends quite some time describing knots and types of whales and things like that), but it’s so beautiful I’ve read it twice.

Hi Nicole. I am also trying to be more discerning in my deck purchases this year. I went through a period where I was seeing a deck review on KZfaq, then immediately buying the deck if it was a reasonable price. But now I am doing more research, and deciding if a particular deck is needed in my collection for a particular type of work. If not, then it just goes on my wish list for another time. I am also waiting for tarot of echoes to be available mass market. I would also love to have the Arthurian tarot in English. I don’t know if it will ever be published in English, so maybe I need to bite the bullet and just study it in French using a translator. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Nicole. Your voice was really clear Despite the rain and thunder. I thought the storm was really cool in the background. I’m curious about something… Do you typically plant vegetables and herbs in the same pot? Does that work well? Is there a rhyme or reason to how you pair varieties into one pot? At 6:58, I noticed a bunch of deep reddish/pinkish plants in your pots, but I don’t remember you mentioning what they were. Those are gorgeous! I love the idea of a native plant rescue. I have never been involved in that before. I will have to look into it in my area.
@NicoleACottageWitch
@NicoleACottageWitch Ай бұрын
I do usually plant herbs and vegetables together. Usually some herbs like basil go with tomatoes because their roots don’t need as much space as the tomatoes and then chives go with strawberries to keep the bugs away but beyond that I haven’t gotten much into companion planting. Mostly it’s just a matter of necessity on a balcony! The reddish flowers were peony leaves from some grocery store flowers that now have a second life as mulch. Though I do have some purple oxalis out there, but it’s struggling. The plant rescue was a lot of fun and very interesting but also a bit sad because that land is about to get bulldozed.
