What an uplifting presentation of one of Ella Wheeler Wilcox's most beautiful poems. The choice, the visuals that accompany it through a child's eyes, even our own, and the song - The Scientist by Coldplay, all absolutely magnificent. I cannot and shall not fault all the elements you have chosen and drafted to put into play. This completely made my day and I am posting this as this week's feature in classic poems in my Sunday Matinee on AllPoetry and my poetry group on Facebook - Half Eaten Cake! What a find to stumble onto this, this morning. It is unbelievable that so few have come across your project Alexandra after 8 years, so few comments (1067/3) here on KZfaq. The world's loss and tells us beauty and meaning in this world so often go utterly unnoticed, distracted by trivia and obscurity - Well the people in it, the politics of being social, self absorbed or making money. Thank god for nature and this - I do hope you have taken to writing poetry too, your work has all the elements to make it! Thank you :) Barddylbach Blue Mountains (Jon C)

I’m glad you like it! I made this for a 10th grade English project the night before it was due (when all great projects are done) and I struggled so much trying to figure out what to make, this just sort of came out. I completely forgot I had it up here to be honest, but your comment made my day and I’m happy you reminded me of this. I have a Bachelor’s in art and music now so I admit, I cringe a bit at the artwork because I know it could be better, but I kind of like that it plays as if through a child’s eyes. I don’t write poetry actually-I’m a musician, so I’ve taken to composing piano music based on poetry, mostly Sara Teasdale, and I sing a lot of choral music with lyrics from poems (if you’re so moved, I highly recommend Stars by Eriks Esenvalds) so poetry is still very much a part of my life!! I thank you so much for your kind comments and I’m that happy this made your day!!

@@alex_does_things I cringe on some of my earlier work, but the artwork here is powerful in its childlike simplicity, it illustrates this fabulous poem so well in a way, in my mind better than any serious artwork could. It speaks to children and opens up the poem for them to relate to, and I think that creates a very precious moment and insight for them. I cannot for the life of me not imagine it having the very same effect with adults of all ages, parents and children. This would be so instructive at a school assembly to teach emotional sensitivity, social skills, relational values while bringing to life a classic poem written 137 years ago in the middle of an Industrial and scientific revolution; the scope for reflection and the power of classic english poetry. And look how Vincent Van Gogh's art inspires people today. Great multimedia project, the art is so much more than just the drawings - the story board, the animation, the visual narrative and props in between, the mix and editing, choice of poem and music and how it is all put together as a unified piece; and yes I can remember so much good stuff created the day before and a day after! You must have been up most of the night to accomplish this. Congrats on your arts and music degree. One of my daughters studied fine art but as yet not found a career path in the world of today to pursue these talents, but her art just keeps getting better when I see the quality of her work :)
