Maaaan, I had no idea how quick this timeline went / the origins of all of this over the past two months. Great in-depth video! Maybe the only way to potentially prevent this will be if TCGs introduce radiation sensitive ink on their labels / shrinkwrap? Either way, the hobby’s changed for sure from this point on.. 😩

@@RickInMaryland It’s written on the front page that they are accepting orders now and to email them for a quote. Says will respond with a price quote based on the fee structure provided. So if you want your products scanned, you just need to email them.

Your presentation was great, man. Concise and streamlined. The only ones who are excited about this only have nefarious motives, IMO. Many are saying "It's no big deal! Look how expensive it is!" but this is just the beginning. Anyone who collects Pokémon should be familiar with the term race to the bottom. If enough people do this, the competition will bring prices down. It may not be a big deal now, but I hate to think about how the pack ripping landscape will look in 2-3 years if this is left unchecked. That said, I believe all LO packs sold to me have been scanned, regardless of where I bought them. Hahaha!

As an engineer, I think it's pretty cool. It's cost prohibitive enough that it only makes sense for vintage or sets with very high value cards. While I agree that this sucks for those looking to buy or sell sealed vintage, it's not going to change anything for modern Pokemon. If anything, this will push more people to buy singles when it comes to vintage. I'm glad to see more channels covering this as it's not new and it's not going to stop. This is the new norm, and expecting all tubers to share your same opinion on the subject just isn't realistic.

This very well said! I just cannot fathom wanting to talk about or direct attention to a company that doesn't know what they are doing, lied from the get go about their intentions, and have rushed it's process into offering that service. I also just don't see how this service could do anything other than cause more harm than good in the community. I feel like it especially heavily affects sealed vintage collectors and, while I dont collect sealed products myself, I want everyone in the community to have the best experience possible in it!! We all should be able to enjoy our hobby without having to worry about the next big scam potential! It is bumming me out 🤦♀

I laughed so hard hearing it described as me fixing the scanner in a cave, if you saw how janky the setup is it's not altogether far off, but yeah I thought that was absolutely hilarious. And do appreciate you not conflating me with the guys selling it in IMO less than an ideal way; if I did this it would be just for vintage/cultural artifacts (things that we'd like to preserve) and you would get condition info, centering, a certificate - something you can feel good about keeping sealed, like my Gengar. Maybe I'd feel differently about the operation if I was getting some kind if royalty, most minds change with money of course, but suffice to say, I am not. In terms of the patent pending, a lot depends on the specifics but I've been advised to keep hush about it for now. I think a good owner for policing enforcement would be a TCG company. Finally, I am working on methods for a follow-up video - a manufacturer's guide to discourage CT scanning of new sets. It IS possible, cheaply and at scale, and without encasing the box in lead.

Just as bad as weighing packs, but it’s a lot more expensive. There will always be people trying to outsmart the game. That usually comes with a fair amount of bad karma/ luck.

But whether something has been scanned and is a proven dud or not is literally just up to trust at this point. And there’s more than a few non trustworthy people in this hobby.

IMO all TCG content creators should be against this due to the inevitability of soo many scams that we literally can’t even fathom yet.
