Listening to Americans talk about healthcare is craaaaazy as a British person. It’s totally a political choice to not subsidise healthcare. You could treat everyone indefinitely for a tiny fraction of your annual defence budget. Imagine having to pay law insurance for the cops to arrest the person who burgled your house, or fire insurance for the firemen to put out burning buildings. You can be a die-hard capitalist and still acknowledge that some things make sense for us all to chip in for through taxes because we’re all safer collectively if it’s free at the point of use.

yes. ohh nooo i have to wait an extra hour to get my broken arm x rayed!!! better than not getting treated at all or going into debt. Efficiency lol how about just having it in the first place before we worry about how quick it comes. Also a goverment ran healthcare doesnt invalidate private insurance from also existing.

Yet weird how so many countries have figured out socialized healthcare. The only reason you’d get better treatment in the US is because it’s fucking expensive and the doctors make a fuck ton of money here so we get all the good doctors who take advantage of our corrupt healthcare industry.

@landonsss8114 extra hour? It took my uncle YEARS to be seen for injuries sustained in Iraq by the VA. If they can't efficiently run the VA, there is no damn way they can do it for the entire populus.

@@landonsss8114 socialized health care in the US is objectively less efficient and effective than private insurance. If you think the network for BCBS is limited, then you've clearly never been on Tricare or Medicaid. Also, do not downplay the importance of efficiency in modern medicine. I have a fully ruptured scaphoid lunate that I must live with for the rest of my life because I was on a wait-list for 2.5 months before I can get an MRI. Now it's too late for me to get surgery. This is not uncommon, and you'll hear much worse stories than that from people who have dealt with the VA.

@@shortbusbully first off its not 1960 and the VA isnt what it used to be, and 2nd , yes, i would take healthcare that takes years to come over no healthcare at all.
