I’m on sensor 2 plus and because it can only be fitted on the back of the arm, reduces the flex ability the Dexcom works better. I hate that libre only allow back of arm. Which means watching yours you have to keep the pod in the same place on each changed for 15 days which is ridiculous. Where as the Dexcom you can put pretty much anywhere you put the pod allowing better moving around sites on your body. Libre need to change their game I’m assuming the lumps are due to having the cannula placed pretty much in the same place for 15 days which is 5 pods for the duration life of the libre sensor. Absolutely no thought given by libre on this.

Doesn't polyenes affect the cell membrane? Allylamine inhibits the metabolism of squalene into biosynthesized ergosterol (the fungal equivalent of cholesterol) at the squalene epoxidase phase. As a result, squalene builds up in the cell, and the plasma membrane loses its structural integrity (ergosterol intercalates between the phospholipid bi-layer and therefore prevents clustering) in addition to its fluidity.

I just went to 2 plus with the pump two days ago but left my two (none plus on) on as had 3 days left using my iPhone. The 2 is always about right very close in fact and the 2 plus is “always between 1-4 out. My iPhone today shows about 30% in range where pod says 80. Is dexcom better?

The difference in the readings may be the result of the CGM being too close to the insulin pump. You may want to check the manufacturer guidelines.

Manufacturer guidelines for the Libre 2 plus state it must be within 7.5cm from the omnipod 5 or you will have connectivity issues

Try tensing and releasing your arm on the second to last click. It will prevent you from being able to tense up again in time for when the needle is inserted and itll hurt less

I start my first day in hospital on monday after doing just under 2 yrs in community which i hated. I feel like my clinical knowledge has always been a strong point but i know ill struggle a little to begin with but one tip another hospital pharamcist gave me was that no one knows everything so dont go in with the assumption that you need to know everything the most important thing is knowing where to find the information and consolidate findings to come up with a reasonable rational and answer to queries. I actually find that skill set in itself to be strongest in community pharmacists because we have very few guidelines to work with whereas within trusts there are specific guidelines so problem solving is something you'll naturally be good at when moving from community to hospital. Good luck to anyone in a similar boat as me take it on as a challenge and give it your all.

Is it really necessary to keep the Libre 2 Plus within 7cm of the Omnipod 5? What do you do when you have to put on a new Omnipod every 72 hours to minimise pump site infections? Do you ever put the Omnipod 5 on other sites (e.g. stomach, upper part of the buttocks)? It sounds like the Bluetooth signal on the Libre 2 Plus isn't good enough which is causing connectivity issues. Are the NHS taking the issues up with Abbott and Insulet?

@MicroPharm yes I am. I am a locum pharmacist, but I also work some shifts in a private hospital. The pressure in community pharmacy is beyond managable. Workload is increasing with bare minimum staff, and the pay does not reflect the amount of work and responsibilities we have. In fact, the pay is decreasing while cost of living is going up . On top of that, having to deal with rude customers when you refuse an OTC sale because it is unsafe. Having a lunch break is a luxury. The list goes on.

Whether to be a pharmacist or not is your decision but I be aware that a lot of pharmacies have closed and more stores are predicted to close . Salaries gone down but responsibility and number of services gone up . And to top it all off there are not many jobs left .I don’t want to put anybody off studying pharmacy but it is helpful sometimes to know the reality .
