did you prime before paint and if so what primer?
@Mr2oldiron
@Mr2oldiron 2 ай бұрын
Yes, I used tractor supply primer. I think it was their Magic line. I used the primer, color coat and clear all from tractor supply.

Nice engine, I have a type a No 5 8 hp I'm currently rebuilding. Hope to have it going this summer. Did you personally rebuild this yourself? just asking because i love the smoothness of the paint job.

No I didn’t restore the engine. I actually went to look at a tractor and this was sitting beside it. Once I knew it was for sale I jumped on it, I was not going to let this one get away.

Can you tell us more about the engine? Is a two-stroke twin?
@sjefleenaerts7277
@sjefleenaerts7277 11 ай бұрын
it looks like a regular John Deere engine that they used in everything at the time so no it's twin four stroke gasoline engine

Sorry I have been plagued with a very nasty knee for the last couple of years. Since it has been better to sit I have been learning cad and have invested in a CNC Plasma table. I just had my total knee replaced on the 25th and hopefully get back on the horse with that Deere, I've got to much money invested in that tractor not to finish it. Plus I still work 60 hours a week in a class 8 tractor shop, we have 140 class 8 Freightliners and 250 dry van trailers to maintain with 5 techs. Hope to be able to publish part 2 in the near future, I now have heat in my new shop that make it a little easier to get back at it. Thanks for watching.
