I saw it on a random Thursday, I've had a day of for my blood tests. I've arrived just in time for the movie start and the guy at at the register made me a student discount, also the theater was empty. The perfect watch.

Excellent review. One of the best I can remember seeing. It fits the movie perfectly too that you reviewed it the way you did, unscripted, not intellectually based and your raw, emotional reaction to it yet you did explain quite well the story, the character and his world very well. Thanks!

As I walk randomly on the quiet streets of my Tokyo neighbourhood on a Sunday morning I listen to you. It felt like listening to a friend. I would love to just hang out under the trees and look at Hirayama eat his sandwich with you. I watched Perfect Days 3 times already. I was also very comforted by it. Hirayama is a true Zen sensei. Now I will continue my journey by the sanctuary, slowly and alone, trying to appreciate the present. Ima wa ima. Kondo wa Kondo. Thank you.

Out of most of the youtubers I listened to I feel you really understood the main character's happiness the most. Thank you, your video has gone into my small collection of favourites. The others seem to be, ironically, the ones in the movie questioning the way the main character lives his life and applying it to their own values of what SHOULD make a person happy

and when it comes to being in a rut, it sometimes is just different. There's times when I want to and acutally manage to watch a movie per day at least. Then comes usually the phase where I think wow, what am I doing, I can't just watch a lot of movies, I have to do some shit too. And then there's times where I really just don't want to watch anything. In those times I used to be kind of scared that this will not come back and that movies are just like a phase for me, but I realized that after those times, I always came back so in the end, when I get into a rut, I just do anything that interest me and eventually I just get back when I watch the next movie :p

The thing is, I usually edit these. I spend a good bit of time smoothing out the ‘ands’, ‘um’s, noises and dead air. This is the first thing I put on the channel with maybe 5 seconds of footage cut, and I actually really liked how natural it all felt and flowed. Probably one of my favourites so far! And I definitely needed to include that mic drop LOL. I often worry about making these videos as good as I can, that intro reminded that I don’t stop to make fun of my own mistakes enough. All part of making videos! Thanks for always checking out the videos man! I appreciate it.

I'm a gay man in my 40s who came out to my parents late. Adam almost felt like he could be another version of me. I'm also a professional writer going through life on my own. I went and saw this movie with my mom. I knew what it was about, she didn't. We were both destroyed by it but we also appreciated it so much. It's a crime that this remarkable film wasn't nominated. I have to wonder if it was ghettoized a bit. Maybe gay + fantasy + heavy is just too much still for the Academy. But unlike Adam, we can't go back and fix it, can we? Thanks for this review.

Great discussion of the film! I watched it yesterday and it moved me deeply. The 4 main performances were all stellar. It had been a while since I saw Jamie Bell in a role, I really love his work as an actor. Claire and Andrew were so incredibly empathetic in their role, and Paul Mescal is a rising star. Definitely a high recommendation, I think this movie will only gather more and more praise over time.
